Since no one has signed Sheets and the Brewers have what could optimistically be called a shot, I could see him going back there. That would help. Certainly though the Brewers have no reason at all to be throwing the towel in at this point.

•Cafardo's heard other clubs talking about the Red Sox and Rockies restarting the Todd Helton for Mike Lowell trade talk, but hasn't heard anything similar from the Red Sox.

•At least one of Cafardo's sources thinks Prince Fielder would make a lot of sense in Boston. Clay Buchholz could be a starting point if these talks were to start

 

We have been through the Helton talks.

 

 

I have mentioned Fielder numerous times. But most don't seem to think the Brew Crew will part with him.

Bowden and MDC to Texas for a Catcher(Salty is most likely out of the 2)

 

Buchholz and company to Brewers for Fielder.

 

 

The Farm pitching takes a hit, but those 2 moves would be solid moves for the clubs present and future. As long as Fielder can be inked long term.

It would have to be some pretty substantial company with Buchholz, though.

And at a certain point we have to look around and say that we have legitimate injury concerns for all 5 of our starters, especially Wakefield, Beckett and Daisuke who all had disturbing signs of possible injuries next year.

 

(Yes, I said Daisuke. I believe the facts point to the possibility that he played through some serious shoulder issues in 2008)

 

Point is, I'm not sure how much of this young depth we can spare in trade.
