It's being discussed in about 3 different threads at this moment, so let's bring it all together.

Red Sox had been building their offseason around adding Mark Teixeira and since he went to the rival YankeesNew York Yankees that Boston has turned its focus to the trade market to see if they can find a strong offensive component for its lineup. The Red Sox preference would be someone young who is capable on defense, as well

Take the article for what you will, but assuming it's reasonable, the Sox are looking for a bat to sure up the lineup. And that there looking for a young star player.

One of:

Carlos Beltran , Jose Reyes and David Wright
For Matsuzaka+ hmmmm:dunno: Sign Lowe to replace Dice-K in the rotation?

Losing Matsuzaka would be a hit. However - from a distance - I sense that Matsuzaka's wildness/high pitch counts are frustrating for Boston. In addition, Jon Lester emerged as a legitimate No. 2 starter behind Josh Beckett.

I see where he's coming from. And if Matsuzaka could bring in someone like Wright, you have to consider it.

I would think there are players such as Cleveland center fielder Grady Sizemore or Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer

How about Texas center fielder Josh Hamilton, Houston first baseman Lance Berkman, Atlanta catcher Brian McCann, Cincinnati first baseman Joey Votto and San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez (I wonder if there is a way to expand this to include Jake Peavy

I like the thought of Hamilton, but can he handle Boston:dunno:

Who does everyone on here see the Sox targeting? What do you think of the suggestions Sherman makes?

Honestly I dont see anything big done , the Sox would wave to give alot to get one of the name mentioned above and would have to sign Dlowe at that point if it involves Dice-k

also it would be a down grade at pitching , yeah sure Dice K is wild but he's still better than

Dlowe

That one looks like David Wright for Matsuzaka +. This one, if you stand over here, looks like Josh Hamilton.

I don't think they will either, but it was a different angle then anything mentioned. Something that was out of the box thinking.

If you're going to pull wild s*** out of the air' date=' then speculate on how they[b'] get Pujols [/b]over here. That I would love.

Yes for entertainment sake, this is what this thread is at the moment:D

Buchholz/Anderson(he will be an absolute in a trade)/OF prospect/+2 other upper prospects.

How about "throwing in" Youk?

Buchholz, Youk, Anderson, and a top tier ML pitcher?

Our farm system is emptied and you still have Wakefield in the rotation. Fail.

Damn, I forgot about how hard it is to find a league average #5 pitcher is....<_>

:dunno:

Well obviously it would hinder my other deals. But it would depend on St. Louis's interest in bringing in 2 1B. Who would the pitcher be?

Posted
Lars Anderson, Clay Buchholz and Michael Bowden to the Hall of Fame for Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner.

Sick.

Like I said this is for fun, if you, like Kilo, feel this is beneath your standards, feel free to ignore the thread and move on.

Hehehe I thought you where mocking me, I've been getting it alot lately for my "out of the Box" ideas.

Now that I know your not, I do find the humor in your post.

I apologize for assuming you where being a dick:D

Youk is a 3B pressed into service at 1B.\

I guess I might as well repost/amend my crazy Berkman trade here.

To the Phillies

Mike Lowell

Kris Johnson

To the Astros

Luis Exposito

Chris Carter

Daniel Bard

Jason Donald

To the Red Sox

Lance Berkman

But he's a 3B so if you're trading him and Anderson in the same deal ("2 1B's") you're trading Youk as a 3B

For the record, we shouldn't trade Youks. He's the only guy we have who can provide decent production from 3B if Lowell goes down or can't perform for some reason.

Posted
Lowrie is not an above average offensive 3B. He's a capable offensive SS but if you replace him with Lugo and Lowell with Lowrie you lose a lot of VORP at each position.

Only because there's noplace else to go.

I'd rather sign Joe Crede than rely on Lowrie for a full season at 3B
