Broncos need to improve their D-Line -- not sure who's available, but on the radio they were mentioning that the Broncos had enough room under the cap to get Albert Haynesworth so I would assume he is. Not sure if they plan to move Wesley Woodyard to safety, but if he can fill in there and play well, that'd help out a lot.

They really just need to stay healthy. They've been hit by the injury bug as much as any team this year, including seven RB's on the injured reserve, and their two best defensive players missing huge chunks of the season.

Packers need to draft an impact rushing defensive lineman. They need to generate more of a pass rush...and even though they have Aaron Kampman, they need to find some more way to rush the passer.

I think the priority for the Packers needs to be to increase their depth within the interior lines (both offensive and defensive), and at corner. Their linebacking corps should be fine if Barnett comes back healthy with Hawk, Poppinga, and Chillar all increasing their roles in his absence. They need to plan on how they are going to replace Charles Woodson and Al Harris. They also need to find personnel that will allow Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball to this talented WR corps.

Improve their lines and add depth to the secondary.

I should add that the Broncos need to hire a competent defensive coordinator -- one who's capable of making in-game adjustments. Getting rid of Dre Bly wouldn't hurt either.

Skins,

Campbell is not mm'good. Sign Cassell, if he's available. Draft both sides of the line this year. Be in a good position for the QB frenzy in the 2010 draft, and whoever they draft can learn under Cassell.

Fire Gruden.

Resign Antonio Bryant.

Sign Brandon Jacobs.

Draft a speed RB to complement Jacobs. (Spiller? Ringer?)

Resign Jermaine Phillips.

Sign a DT who can actually stop the run.

Here's the long-ass thing I wrote last night, but couldn't post because some database thing was blocking it...

Bucs need to pink slip Jon Gruden for sure, but I have no idea who we would hire in his place. Maybe Josh McDaniel or Jason Garrett, but I think that's being optimistic.

I didn't get to see any of Josh Johnson this year, which fries me. Yeah he was a 5th round pick, but he threw 43 TDs and 1 f***ing INT his final year in college... I don't care where you play, that's one mother f***er of a ratio. Look at our other QBs. Garcia's like 40 now, Griese sucks ass, and Luke McCown is just plain terrible. I have a good feeling about Johnson, think he has a chance to be a McNabb type QB in his league (hopefully w/o the injuries). Given Tom Brady's setbacks, Matt Cassel looks more and more like a pipe dream (doubtful that was ever realistic in the first place).

Running back needs to be addressed. Graham will be back next season, but I don't like him as the primary, full time running back. Problem is, Warrick Dunn is in his mid-30s (not good for a back), and Cadillac couldn't finish the season. The Bucs need to draft or sign a speed back to complement him. I'm not familiar with college football, or, by extension, this year's draft, so I don't know who's out there. On the FA market, there's Brandon Jacobs (i'm hopeful, but pessimistic), Darren Sproles (doubtful SD lets him go), Derrick Ward (possibility), and Ricky Williams (no thanks).

Antonio Bryant caught 90 balls for 1200+ yards in 2008. Needless to say, he's a keeper. We need to add speed at wide receiver to complement Bryant, but that can definitely be addressed. Devery Henderson is on the market, he defines speed. TJ Houshmanzadeh is out there, but I doubt we can snatch him. I really don't want to have to draft a speed receiver and hope he pans out.

Tight end and o-line are fine. We're deep, skilled, and solid at all spots.

Teams were running the s*** out of us towards the end of the year. Jovan Haye is a decent player, but the rest of our d-tackles f***ing suck (looking at you, Hovan and Sims). Albert Haynesworth figures to be a premier free agent on the market, so its highly doubtful we land him. Unfortunately, outside of Haynesworth, the D-tackle FA market is paper thin (highlighted by Haye, Rocky Bernard, and Jonathan Babineaux); Haye being a free agent as well definitely doesn't help matters. Draft.

Defensive end we're okay.

Linebacker doesn't need to be addressed either, but I should say that I wouldn't be heartbroken if Derrick Brooks decides to hang 'em up. He's 35, the end is near one way or the other, and we have Quincy Black waiting in the wings. I wouldn't mind Black being a starting linebacker in 09 one bit.

The secondary... definitely hang on to Jermaine Phillips, he and Jackson make an above average safety tandem, so we're safe there (haha c wat i did ther). As for the corners, Buchanon needs to leave. Seriously. Give Talib the starting job. I don't care how inexperienced he may be at year 2, Buchanon is a piece of s***. Barber is showing signs of slowing down, but I think he has another good year in him. Regardless, corner is a position that needs to be addressed in round 3 of the draft or higher. Preferably its a Ronde-type corner, a guy that can be a corner-linebacker and do the dirty work. Alternatively, we could go out and sign Kelvin Hayden, an ideal corner for our system. Seamless transition.

I'd label our draft priorities, in order: DT, CB, HB, WR, OL (can never have too many of them).

Get Steve Young, Jerry Rice and the defensive line from the mid 90's to come out of retirement cause holy s*** they suck

They played well under Mike Singletary, and would've gotten to 8-8 had Singletary not f***ed up the end of the Cardinals game that Monday night. They might be alright next year, especially in that division.

The more I think about it the more this season pisses me off.

The Packers went 6-10, but 7 of those losses were by 4 points or less.

Falcons, 24-27

Titans, 16-19

Vikings, 27-28

Panthers, 31-35

Texans, 21-24

Jaguars, 16-20

Bears, 17-20

A couple of bounces here or there and you could be looking at a division winner. And every one of those losses was against a quality opponent except for Jacksonville. That was a game that they looked like crap after having three straight close and heartbreaking losses to the aforementioned teams (MIN, CAR, HOU) which effectively ended their season.

Falcons 11-5

Titans 13-3

Vikings 10-6

Panthers 12-4

Texans 8-8

Jaguars 5-11

Bears 9-7

Total 68-44 (.607)

So 7 losses of 4 points or less with 6 teams being .500 or better.

Just got a text message from ESPN, and saw on the bottomline, that the Broncos fired Mike Shanahan. No link yet.

Not sure how I feel... guess it depends on who they bring in.

I liked Shanahan... but he hasn't done anything without Elway. Hard to feel too bad for him... there won't be a shortage of teams looking to snatch him up.

I don't need a big named coach -- don't want Cowher or anybody like that.

Frankly, I kinda want Rex Ryan, so maybe this team will play some defense. I'd also settle for Jason Garrett.

They should have brought a GM in. He's still a good coach.

A very good coach -- still one of the best in the league, in my opinion. I don't think he's willing to give up his power when it comes to personnel. I think they've tried to get him to do that in the past. With Cowher, I guess he doesn't want absolute power, just to bring in guys he can work with. As I said earlier, I kind of want Rex Ryan. Wouldn't complain if they got Cowher, though.

You're right, though -- that would be the best case scenario. He turned what should've been a 5 win team, given all of the injuries, into an 8 win team -- unfortunately, he's the man that assembled that 5 win team. :dunno:
