Chuck Lofgren

Daniel Mayora

Eduardo Morlan

Any teams out there desperate enough? The Yanks can only hope.

we left some solid talent unprotected. If Michael Gardner could get picked last yr, then Cox and Whelan will likely be gone. I have a feeling Cox could stick as a middle reliever somewhere. Whelan is much more of a project

Yeah some of the guys we left unprotected quite possibly could be gone. Horne, Cox, etc.

we made the right decisions though. We protected the guys with the highest value. Garcia and Dunn are two high end players and although they have had their issues, they are both worth more than Cox.

Maybe...just maybe...those guys weren't all that good, and it was the Yankees PR machine that inflated their value?

Nah...

It isnt just the yankee PR machine Gom. Whelan is a true talent who throws very hard and is very difficult to hit. The problem is, he walks 6 batter per 9 in a good yr. If someone is willing to throw a 25 man roster spot to a project, then so be it. Cox is a guy with middle relief stuff who has steadily dropped down the depth chart in our bullpen. He's more of a sure bet and I think he is the only one taken IMO. I could see a team like the mets take a gamble on him.

In other words, he's just like Richie Lentz.

Jacko..without our usual venom...which we both seem to enjoy...I just can't buy into this organizations drafting ability.

They didn't sell on their prospects when they were at their peak last year for Johan. They didn't evaulate their own players correctly, having listed Hughes, Kennedy, and Chamberlain in order of value. They overhype their own prospects to no end. Honestly...would you have traded Tabata for Nady AND Marte a year and a half ago? If you say yes, you'd be lying. Now, Tabata isn't worth much, if anything. We had retreads like Ponson and Rasner, when quietly, Karstens did a better job than either of those guys did.

Until I see some positive results from a front office that hasn't produced a starter, pitching or hitting, in over a decade, I can't jump onto that bandwagon. Irrespective of who's to blame, they have no credibility with me. I hope we see a time when we have a run like we did with Jeter, Bernie, Posada, Mo, and Pettitte. What Yankee fan wouldn't want that? However, I just don't think our current GM has the ability, that's all. Just because you hold a position, it doesn't mean you are the best man for the job. Just look at George Bush.

He makes a pretty good point, but i still think Hughes has the stuff to bounce back and be dominant, but Kennedy=meh....., so the "Big 3" was actually the "Big 1, we'll see and Meh...." so if that's what he meant by hype machine then he's right.....
