To me, everything about 2008 Derek Lowe screams contract year performance. Given the pitching market in recent years and Lowe's ability to stay healthy, $15 mil a year wouldn't shock me one bit and pitching in the AL East, I'd expect an ERA right around what Wakefield will give you

btw, I'm all for keeping Wakefield as the long reliever

I agree with you on Wake. He's very versatile, and can pitch every night if needed. I really would like to see Lowe back, and Buch in the rotation.

and Buch in the rotation.

I'd say next year really is the make or break year for Buch. He's dominating the minors and doesnt seem like he has a whole lot left to learn there. He's gotta sack up and start doing it in the majors now

I hope both he and Phil Hughes burn. f*** them. The curse of Johan.

Hey Jacko...how come we don't have any more Hughes updates? Maybe because he's had two terrible starts? Or maybe because he got the s*** kicked out of him in the Rising Stars game?

Rather than your meaningless minor league stats [his major league stats this year are pretty indicative, 0-4, 6.62 ERA], here is a scout's take on Hughes in the Rising Stars game:

"His velocity was fine. He threw some at 93-94 (mph), but mostly he was in the low 90s, but the problem was that they were straight. He gave up two bombs and even the outs were mostly hard hit. He couldn't command his fastball to the corners at all. Only about half his curves were good and only about one in four were in the strike zone. He is working to add that changeup (to use against lefties), threw three and all were up and out of the zone.

"I think the problem is that his elbow is too low so he is not commanding because he is not throwing downhill. His command stinks because his motion stinks. For example, his curve has good rotation and break, but I think because of that delivery it breaks early and so hitters pick it up."

You should spend more time honing your skills as a doctor and forget about trying to analyze baseball players. The time you spend on baseball is obviously wasted.

Dumbass. I find it interesting that you get undressed on this site daily by teenagers and you still think you are smart. You dont give up on players with lots of talent when they are 22. Thats a great way to ruin your team's future. But what would you know. Your brother got all the brains. You got, well, a computer and thats about it

LOL!

My goodness....you really believe what you spew? You're absolutely right, you don't give up on young players who have talent. I don't think Hughes has anywhere near the talent you believe he has.

Dude, exactly what do you bring to the table? Everyone the Yankees have or wants to get is a superstar, every move the team makes is golden....yada yada yada. Everything the Red Sox do is not as good as the Yankees...nothing any other team does is as good as you're beloved Yankees. Of course I'm a fan, but when it comes to objectivity, you're lost.

The fact that you actually think I "lose" the debates with these teenagers is only surpassed by your stupidity in believing you ever out-debate anyone here. I've called you out more than once in actually understanding what you see. You conveniently stop posting on those threads.

My brother got the brains, and I got a computer? He got one, I have 7! Does that mean he's seven times as smart? LOL!

The day you understand how this game works better than me is the day I perform open heart surgery better than you.
