I don't really like to speculate or make assumptions, but if we do go back to Tampa, it'd be 3-2 for either side.

My question is who would you guys throw in that Game 6? Lester or Beckett?

Lester would be on regular rest for that Saturday as well.

Olney was sayin lester looked very fatigued, and maybe he's finally hit the wall, as he's been worked a lot this year. We can only hope this is not the case, and if it is, hope he can go 3 more this post-season.

Just a quick, FYI. It'd be going back to St. Pete. It's okay, though. No worries since you all get the privilege to see the end of the series up there, you don't have to worry!

I'm sure you didn't know where they played before this year either.

HAHAHAHHAHA...

Wait... that wasn't funny.

Anyway, good little story now that you mention fans that know nothing about their team... Game 2 of this series I'm sitting pretty close to the Sox bullpen - close to where the most sox fans congregated. And some obnoxiously funny Rays fan proceeded to ask the surrounding Sox 'fans' to name a Boston area code. The looks on their faces were priceless. Blank... confused... scared...

I live in Greeley, CO... I can't tell you any Denver area area codes, guess I'm a s***** Broncos fan. I'm originally from Bridgeport, CT... can't tell you the area code there. Certainly couldn't tell you a Boston area code. I lived in Ocala, FL for a year, I can't even tell you the Ocala area codes at this point... certainly not Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Gainesville, etc. etc. I mean, especially in an age where nobody actually remembers phone numbers off of the top of their heads.

So I'm not sure I follow your point. Nobody's going to deny there's a lot of Red Sox fans who weren't before 2004, and we don't like them anymore than anybody else does -- but the Rays entire fanbase consists of these very same types of people.

Totally agree, but don't insinuate that I'm one of them.

Your post reminded me of that guy.

I know this isn't easily picked up over the internet, but I'm just bustin' your balls.

I honestly don't care how or when somebody becomes a fan of their team. As long as those who weren't fans all along don't act like they were. I don't know you, I don't know if you were, so I'm not qualified to make that judgement, nor do I care to. But considering 98% of the Rays fan base were indifferent about the franchise since day, I'm gonna bust balls about it.

98%? I think the number is larger than that. In previous years, you could get seats on the Beach for $5. Five dollar bleacher seats, and they'd still draw 5,000 on a Friday if it wasn't a team with a big following (and even the 5,000 wasn't 100% Rays fans). I don't know about you, but I'd love to be able to go see my team play 81 times a year and be able to grab a couple of beers and still spend less than $30, no matter how good they were. Less than 5,000 people in the Tampa / St. Pete area thought enough of the game or the team prior to this year.

The team should be moved, and not to a new stadium. Steve Doumig is the most listened to and respected local sports talk radio guy and for years he's asked why Tampa wouldn't support its team, the fan excuse was they wouldn't support owners who wouldn't field a competitive team. They pretty much wire to wired it this year, and for what, 26th of 30 in MLB attendence.

I'm not buying for a second anyone that tells me they've been there since the begining for the Rays. Not the CowbellKid, not anyone. I sat RF bleachers in '05 when Crawford lined the ball off Clement's head. I had RF bleacher tickets in '06 when Kazmir beat Beckett 3-0 on two Ty Wiggington homers, and I was there for BP before heading over to the CF beer garden to watch the game. No cowbell trannies. In my mind, anyone selling "been there since the begining" and being loud about it, is being loud because it's a phony message. That's just my $0.02.

This could be the dumbest, most irrelevant point to make regarding fans not knowing their team. Wait, so I live 4 hours away and still go to games but I'm a bandwagon fan because I don't know the area codes in a city I've never lived in?

I guess I need to get a Boston phone book so that I can study Red Sox history and be a real fan. I better hit up to post office for zip codes too so I can get the true Red Sox Nation experience.

That's Tampa for you. It's a very myopic town. Their entire fanbase is condensed into 3 area code districts (813, 727, 407). Therefore, they can't conceive of a team having fans from all over, and the whole idea of one team representing a 6 state region would blow their minds more than a full frontal lobotomy.
