Everyone of us could see this type of s*** happening to Wakefield' date=' but management expected something else?[/quote']

Whats the other option? Did you see Byrd get the s*** kicked out of him last night.

It's definitely still hurt. The choice was play through the condition and get surgery in the offseason or get surgery immediately and hope he was back by the playoffs. The tendon on his wrist is no longer in the sheath. It's moving across the bone and cause some irritation and clicking / popping feeling. This is similar to what happened with Schilling's ankle, although not as severe.

Cue the Yankee Spin Dr's assessment of career ending injury in 3, 2, ......

BABIP that Sonnanstine!

One of the things we are taught is that the tendon sheath in the wrist and hand is very closely approximated to the tendon and it is very unlikely that you have an isolated sheath injury without having damaged the tendon. I have said before that with surgery, these things do pretty well. Its getting the timing and the confidence in the wrist back that is the biggest factor. I have always said that his knees will be his undoing. I expect the wrist to be near 100% by the start of ST.

Rays face a knuckleball pitcher...change their approach and hit the piss out of the ball

Sox face a pitcher who lives on offspeed stuff...get mowed down

This guy is getting so lucky. What the hell?

Welcome to Sonnanstine's World, where every roped liner is within .001 degrees of angle from your fielders.

You really think people thought Wakefield wanted to suck?

Not saying they wanted it but they were saying that he would and we would lose.

Maybe Materson should have started.

I actually thought about this today. Sure Wakefield has a good record against Tampa Bay, but this is October, and as always, s*** happens. I think Masterson can go a little deeper. Not so much with overpowering pitching and strikeouts. But with just good located pitches. Then again this walk he just made can prove different.

How far can Masterson go realistically? His last start was on July 5 so I don't expect him to have the stamina, and he was basically a 6 inning guy as a starter.
