(if they did them, I mean?)

If Jon Lester had gotten the win in Game 4 I think the choice is pretty clear, but he didn't, so I think it's a toss-up between Lester, Bay and Papelbon, with Youks and Kotsay getting HM for their defense. Given the way the three played, I take Bay, who had a key offensive play in each one of the 4 games.

Thoughts?

The Sox pitching staff threw 39 innings, giving up 13 runs. Remove Lester's line, and it's 25 innings and 12 runs (all earned, Lester's was the only UER). Pretty clear to me.

Best pitching - Lester.

Best hitting - Bay.

Biggest shot - Drew's 2 run homer with bad back.

Biggest Disappointment - Lowell - Pedroia just missed the award.

Isn't there no such thing as the ALDS MVP? But if there was' date=' I'd pick Lester.[/quote']

That's correct. There is an LCS MVP (Josh last year), and WS MVP. I extended that to LDS.

jon lester didnt give up an earned run against the team with the best record in baseball in 2 starts.

further debate on this is below our standards as so called knowledgable fans of the game.

jon lester has risen to the elite status right in front of our eyes and is arguably the best lefty in baseball now....

and to think he had cancer and didnt his dad come down with it too this past spring?

what balls,what courage

what a great story, its too good for fiction writers to invent.

heres to theo for keeping this guy around and heres to jon lester,a profile in courage that we all can celebrate.

I would have to agree that it would be Lester. If Jason Bay had one more big hit, especially in game 4, it would be a tough choice. If Bay had gotten a big hit in game 4, maybe Lester would have gotten the win... Maybe that would change my mind again!

I'd say the double that set up the winning run was a pretty huge hit.

a guy who wins two starts and pitches 14 innings allowing 0 earned runs in a best of 5 automatically gets the MVP every single time in my book
