You're saying it isn't possible for TB to lose three games and the Sox to win three?

Maybe not a given, but certainly not almost impossible.

Tell you why it's not happening. You're in no matter what. Are you pitching Lester or Beckett or Dice-K into the 7th of a tie game? Are you going to Paps three games in a row?

Totally different rules if you are playing to get into the playoffs than if you are playing for seeding.

Yeah because that wouldn't devalue his goal for 20 at all...

This was my thought when I read Gom's post too. If he beats total scrubs per Gom's desire, is he really a 20 game winner? I thought the point was to win 20 real games. If it takes a gimmee to get him over the 19 win hump, then he's not really a 20 game winner, which is the tag he's trying to shed.

It's not my desire. I'd want nothing more than to knock the Red Sox out of the playoffs with a Mussina win on Sunday. However, it's not going to happen. So many things have to go right, bullpens, timely hitting...winning 20 games is not easy, and he is arguably the best pitcher to never have won 20. 20 wins is 20 wins. I'm not saying Tito tells his guys to strike out, but not putting in your "A" team helps.

You won't see many walks this weekend once it's decided. Teams will play out the string, hopefully no one gets hurt, and the Red Sox move on to baseball in October, and Yankee Stadium goes out with a whimper.

10-3 now' date=' throw in the bench for the next 2 days after and get the starters rested for the playoffs[/quote']

They should throw in all their starters to keep the Yankees from winning 90 games and keep Moose at 19 wins. Paps should pitch 6 innings in the next two days.

Congrats on the wildcard fellas.

Bay should try to get thrown out stealing. They need to get this game in. Imagine the Sox having to play a doubleheader if this game gets rained out. I highly doubt we see a 6th to this game.

at this point' date=' why even have a double header?[/quote']

They owe it to baseball. It's just the way it is. I told you the Red Sox should have just laid down instead of trying to score runs. :dunno:

It's unplayable in that kind of rain. Besides' date=' they didn't cancel it. I think when it's reasonable rain, they'll play as much as they can.[/quote']

I hope so. I want the Red Sox beaten in the playoffs fair and square. LOL!

Seriously, all they are going to do is finish the 5th and call the game. I hope they have a 15 minute window of no rain to get it going.

The Red Sox have sent pitchers David Pauley and Devern Hansack to instructional camp in Florida.

Pauley was rocked by the Yankees on Friday night and Hansack was barely being used. Both players will be asked to stay in shape just in case they're needed at some point during the playoffs.

Ah those guys at rotoworld are funny as hell
