Leave it to Mayo to fall on it after 2 other guys (veteran Thomas being one) think it's a good idea to try to run and pick up the ball. THAT NEVER WORKS.

Glad to see such poise from Mayo, kid is going to be special.

Rodney's injury looked terrible, and the fact that Bruschi came out and hugged him on the field leads me to believe that's it for his career......sad way to go out!

How much of what we saw from Benjarvis Green-Allen good performance and how much of it was awful defense?

I really liked what I saw from the kid. He broke a couple tackles, he committed to his route, he was decisive with his route (which is something I've been blasting Maroney for NOT doing) and he had some good to great second efforts.

On the other hand, with D as bad as it was in that game I think just about anyone could have run on the Broncos in the second half.

BTW -- there's something to be said for the fact that the D was so bad because they were on the field so long. The Broncos had HOW many turnovers? We all know how much that wears down an average defense.

With Harrison's season and career pretty much over with' date=' I heard on weei that the Pats might bright Joh Lynch or Ty Law back out of retirement[/quote']

This is the problem with the Patriots. I understand needing an older player for a quick fix because there are no other options, but they have got to stop going to retired players as fill-ins. This does NOTHING to get them younger. I feel like they need to make bigger pushes for FAs and do what they started doing in the two most recent drafts - pick kids who play a position that's difficult to learn on this team. The Pats had always been hesitant to pick LBs or positions in the secondary due to the complexity of the defense, but not addressing this problem is going to force us to put an ancient team on the field year-in and year-out. Merriweather, Mayo, and Wheatley were all steps in the right direction, obviously.

And, Kilo, I agree with your statement. As much as I love Rodney as a player and his intensity, he's not what he was. I must say though, if John Lynch is his replacement then I will retract this statement and wish Rodney was still on the field.

If this is the end of his career, God speed and thanks for everything, Rodney.

Green-Ellis looked good; he made quick decisions and went instead of tap-dancing which is what Maroney is famous for. A lot of what we saw though we need to attribute to the poor D and the fact that they were on the field a lot. I like the instincts, but there's a long way to go.

Rodney Harrison being hurt is probably the best thing that could happen to the Pats defense

I disagree: while it was painfully obvious at times that Rodney is slower than he used to be, his main usefulness was communicating and getting the rest of the secondary on the same page before the snap.....that and the ability to adjust pre-snap and become an additional LB. The talent and quickness went up in the secondary with Rodney gone, but I don't think we are a better team without him. With that said, if Merriweather, Sanders, and the bunch learn quick and make the adjustment.....then come playoff time (if we make it) we could be a better team than what we would have been with Rodney.
