Here's one that should get a response from Kilo.

 

It's a couple weeks old, but I hadn't seen it yet.

 

Patrick "Frying Pan Hands" Crayton talks a little smack.

 

"Green Bay, that's a soap opera,'' he said, referring to the ongoing Brett Favre saga. "It's shaking Aaron Rodgers, I don't care what they're saying.''

 

Then Crayton went on to urge the Packers to start Rodgers, not Favre, against Dallas on Sept. 21. When he was reminded that Rodgers played fairly well against the Cowboys when Favre was injured, Crayton said, "Did anyone have any film on him?

 

"Their defense had film on him for last week's scrimmage. How'd that go?''

Yep. Looks like Jason Taylor may miss week 1, and if he does play he won't be 100%.

 

It will be nice to see them on national TV to start the season. I don't have Direct TV, so no Sunday NFL ticket. I get all the 'Bucs and Jags games though. Yippee!

Crayton should probably focus on catching the ball when he has a chance to practically win a game for his team in the playoffs instead of talking smack before the season.

Like usual, inconsistent. Good enough to not lose his job, but not good enough to dash Colt Brennan's hopes of seeing some PT his rookie year. He still can't seem to connect on mid and deep routes. He's efficient with the underneath routes, but his Yd/Att is s***.

I gotcha. Well I'm definitely excited for that first game. I'm trying to be optimistic about the pass rush, as I was in the other thread, but I have to admit that it's going to be a lot different for opposing teams when they don't have to block Strahan and Umenyiora.

 

I do think though, honestly, that Spagnuolo has talent to work with that he can use in his blitz schemes.

So with every doctor that he has seen telling Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman to undergo reconstructive surgery on a knee containing two torn ligaments, Merriman is opting to ignore their advice.

 

“I’m going to play,” Merriman told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. ”I’ll deal with it when it’s time to get surgery.”

 

Um, Shawne? According to all of those expert orthopedists you’ve seen over the past week, it’s time to get surgery.

 

Merriman recently acknowledged that he risks a “career-threatening injury” if he continues to play with a torn PCL and torn LCL in his knee.

 

We think the team has an obligation to step in and to persuade Merriman to shut it down; instead, the team has issued a press release proclaiming that Merriman will play.

 

With it looking increasingly unlikely that the Chargers will keep Merriman beyond the 2009 season, when his rookie contract expires, it looks like they’re prepared to take advantage of his willingness to take long-term chances with his body, given that the franchise’s window to win a Super Bowl is as wide as it’s ever gonna get — and could begin closing soon.

 

From the standpoint of Merriman’s ability to cash in via free agency, his best move is to get the knee fixed now and then show in 2009 that he’s healthy and as effective as ever. If he plays in 2008 and goes under the knife after the season, missing all or part of the 2009 season, Merriman’s value on the open market will plummet, and he’d be forced most likely to accept in 2010 a contract that amounts to a one-year “prove it” deal.

 

Regardless of the team’s motivation, it’s shameful that the organization is willing to let him play when it’s clear that he shouldn’t be taking such a huge risk with the present and future condition of a fairly important joint.

I admire him for sacrificing his long term goals, to help the Chargers win in 2008. Usually, you don't see players who love the game that much.

It is refreshing to see that Crespo, but this is a little beyond the pale for me. It's not like he's got a handful of games to tough it out on team that has an established title shot (by this I mean they are heading into the playoffs). He's got to endure the whole 16 game season and then the playoffs on a balky knee.

What's the effect of HGH and healing this kind of injury?

Don't know. I'm not sure if ligament tears heal. I always thought they required surgery to repair the attachment.

I had ACL problems (much worse than PCL and LCL, but still similar). Since I play competitive tennis, I obviously opted for the surgery, but my doctor also gave me the option of rehabbing it and strengthening it to the point where the tear wouldn't affect my every day life unless I was playing a sport or something. That's something that a lot of people do, and probably what Merriman is doing. His knee is probably pretty strong already.

 

If he's gonna be playing on his PCL and LCL while their torn, it can't be too big of a tear. It'll still affect him a lot, but if he gets the right brace (he's a f***ing NFL player, he'll have no problem) it shouldn't be too big of a problem unless some sort of ridiculous accident happens.

 

The only problem is, if it gets any worse he's f***ed. because once knee problems come about, they never ever go away.

First thing I thought of as well, ORS. Linemen will go to town on Merriman's knee. If it gets hit the wrong way just once, his career could be over. He's being ridiculously stupid. Somehow, though, I'm not surprised.

BTW Merriman is making an idiotic decision. Not only is it retarded to put your career on the table like this, but the Chargers are the deepest team in the NFL. If any team out there could survive Merriman's absence, its them.

Campbell is trying his hardest to give Colt some playing time later this year. The guy just can't throw the ball down field. He either lacks the ability or the sack to try something, but everything is underneath. Yo, numbnuts, they give you the 8 yard route on 3rd and 15 because it won't get a first down and that's where they want you to throw it.

 

This shouldn't even be a game. If Coughlin had half a brain he exploits how open Burress is on every play and steps on the throat in the first half. His play calling was very vanilla and is the only reason the Skins have a shot at "anything can happen" in this game. If I'm a Giants fan, that concerns me a little.

I thought they looked pretty ill-prepared too. They dicked around and wasted a lot of time there in the 4th. Of course, that was compounded by "I'll take the under" Campbell. I thought a WC offense might be good for him because of his inaccuracy with a deep ball. He doesn't make the quick reads though. If he doesn't progress through the season, they need to draft a QB (no Dan, don't trade more f***ing picks for a stiff 1 year from retirement).

 

EDIT: And I don't think Colt Brennan counts. Pretty unimpressed with Zorn, too.

That's the one position where the Giants just can't afford anymore injuries.
