Scouting Report:

Red Sox: The lefty continues to pitch like an ace, even if the Red Sox don't think it's yet appropriate to call him one. In Lester's last start, he beat the Orioles by pitching seven solid innings in which he gave up one run. In four starts in August, Lester is 3-1 with a 3.18 ERA. Lester pitched once against the Jays this season, giving up just one hit over eight shutout innings. Lester is holding opponents to a .258 average on the season.

Blue Jays: Litsch showed off his newly added four-seam fastball in his last outing, but he wound up with a no-decision after a late collapse by Toronto's bullpen on Thursday in Detroit. The 23-year-old right-hander, making his first start after a brief stay in the Minor Leagues, turned in seven shutout innings with four hits allowed. Litsch struck out three, walked two and hit one batter in the 111-pitch performance, which included more of a focus on his sinker and less reliance on his cut fastball. Litsch is 3-1 with a 4.57 ERA in four career outings against Boston.

Per Heidi Watney, Beckett said he felt much better today. Wakefield feels great. So do the Yankee hitters after hearing that they will be facing Wake and not Beckett.

The bottom 4 in our lineup would not scare a AAA pitcher. What is the progress on Lowell's recovery?

That's supposed to scare someone? He was awful even before he tweaked the hip.

Well they are 66-62 in arguably the toughest division in baseball.

Division record: 23-22

vs. Sox: 6-3

Looks like their success in the tough division is largely due to us.

wow 7-0 wtf happened

The usual, Toronto. This has been going on for about 4 years now. It shouldn't come as any surprise.

Waste of a game

onto tomorrow, it doesnt get any easier as the Sox face the 16-9 A.J. Burnett. Dice opposes him, with his 15-2 mark... but Blue jays hitters have been making the Sox pay for allowing baserunners, uh oh for him if it continues
