I do think it is time to see what we can get for a package that includes Hansen. He's got great stuff, but he's inconsistent and he doesn't handle pressure very well.

Well, the hot streak is gonna continue as long as we pitch. With Pettitte throwing 6IP and 1ER, our ERA remains around 1.4 since the break. It wont last, but the pen has been ridiculous and we are actually hitting. Even if the rotation somewhat regresses, so long as we hit okay and have a lights out pen, we'll be solid.

Hansen is still a work in process

5 days left for the Sox to make a trade or stand pat. Ill be surprised if the Sox do make a trade for bullpen help

I'd be shocked.

Gom is the bipolar fan. They are in line for a championship every time they get hot, they are joke every time they get cold.

EDIT: We have several Sox fans like that here.

Bipolar is cool. My girl doesn't know who she's sleeping with. Come to think of it, neither do I.

Seriously, the Yankees have been a second half team the last few years, having the best record in 2005 & 2007, and second best in 2006. The addition of Marte and Nady solve two major problems. Enjoying our run right now. As you guys and we know...a good bullpen stops losing streaks. So I'm hoping the trend continues with us.

Plus, it's great that were prospering at your expense. I LOVE IT!

Thank you for reminding me why I hate the Yankees and there jackass fans.
That is the reason that I never give them an inch. If you make the mistake of being a good sport and not rubbing their faces in our successes with the thought that your sportsmanship will be returned in kind, you are sorely mistaken. They are the worst-- vicious winners and cowardly losers.

Coupled with your whining bitches, it makes for a lot of fun.

All trolling aside, you guys really need to shore up that pen if you are serious about staying in the race. Agree?

They need to shore up the bullpen, but I don't think they will. However, with their weak remaining schedule that has them playing more home games than either the Yankees or the Rays, they may win the division despite their deficiencies.

That's the spirit! This rivalry has been too tame recently. Screw all of you. LOL!

It's been tame, because Yankee fans have been curiously absent from this site for a couple of months. I've been as provocative as ever. A few posters have some of my more incendiary posts in their signatures.

Hmm. I was banned on a Yankees forum for mere discussion of the proper way to amortize a signing bonus, and you act like this.

Yeszir, if you ban him, I completely understand. This is a Red Sox site, and he's just insulted all of us, the insult involving mild profanity. I got no warning when I was banned--by Yankees standards, he's way over the line. He's violating the standards of his peers--there is no stronger foundation for removal.

a700hitter, you might wish to reconsider whether or not there might have been collusion regarding the Yankees' acquisitions. Given the revenue sharing provisions in place, both the Yankees and every small-market team profits from continuing the Yankees' season into October. The Yankees' fan base is huge but fickle--keeping them strong is an essential element of maintaining profitability for MLB as a whole.

Listen to the FOX Sports team discussing the trade: they all agree that the Yankees got Nady and Marte for "nothing." I don't see any other MLB team getting quality players at the deadline for "nothing," and the Yankees have done it twice in three years (look back at the Abreu/Lidle trade).

Brian Cashman isn't that good, folks. This is BS.

JHB, jealous as always. I think you are seeing yankee fans come back mostly because the sox have been so inconsistent. Granted, I've been here from the beginning, but others seem to be back. Oh well.

The Yanks opened the door to the sox earlier in the yr and the previously lights out middle relief of the sox has been absolutely awful. Mix in the inconsistent offense and you have a team that is losing a bunch of games they should have won. Without an addition, this sox team doesnt do well in October.

and JHB, remember. The yankees pay significantly less in revenue sharing once we start paying for the stadium. As long as we pay that lease, we pay only a fraction of what we were paying into the revenue sharing pot. The competitive advantage is coming back.

I have criticized the Red Sox FO in past years by comparing them to the Yankees FO. However, I agree that the Yankee FO is not that good. That leaves me with two possibilities: The Red Sox FO doesn't care this season or the conspiracy theory. I am not beyond getting caught up in conspiracy theories. Heck, i am still trying to get beyond the Kennedy Assassination Conspiracy.

The problem with the explanation that the Red Sox FO doesn't care this year is what is the explanation for all the other GMs? None of them care? Are they all stupid and got outwitted? None of them had a package of prospects to compare with the Yankees offer? Certainly the Mets had interest. They needed Nady more than the Yankees need him. Something definitely smells, but I am trying to avoid making that my conclusion.

BS. I'm pointing out the grossly inappropriate behavior. You're accusing me of jealousy--that, Jacko, is more inappropriate behavior.

1) That doesn't apply in 2008;

2) Why do you choose to rub in the point that the Yankees have a competitive advantage because of market size? Kind of you to admit what we all know...but why admit to it now?

I think they have done very well to hold the line while Ortiz had been out for 6 weeks. Now if we getting manny's meds right and the bullpen starts to pitch like last year, the Red Sox will be okay. Okajima has been much better of late

Don't feel bad JHB. I was banned from a Yankees site too. It's not just you. Was it NYYFans forum? That was mine, lol. I was banned for...get this...calling Cashman an idiot. LOL!

Settle down there new fish. I've been here longer than you. :)

Anyways, it's more fun with a little needling either way. Last I looked, you were the defending champs, and most of you take every opportunity to remind me.

I fully expect all of you to kill me tomorrow, with Ponson going against Lester, I figure we'll be down by a touchdown after four innings.

is that the line you are going with?

We havent had our ace since early June

Our catcher hasnt been able to play healthy all yr and is likely to go under the knife soon

Our MVP missed significant time with a quad injury.

Damon missed 20 days with a shoulder injury

Matsui has been out a month and may be done for the yr

And in that time, we have caught you guys in the L column. The injury excuse is ours for the yr, and we are still en fuego.

Jacko, don't forget, they lost Schilling before the season even started. Our best hope is that Manny refuses to play hard and the Sox don't make the playoffs. What a head case.

Doctor, heal thyself. You are having a break with reality. Our injury problems started in January when we realized that Curt Schilling was probably done for the season. That is the Curt Schilling who is the best post season pitcher in history. That was a major blow. We lost our best offensive player and the heart and soul of the team for six weeks. We also lost Lowell for the first month of the season. Dice k was on the DL, and our SS is lost for 4 to 6 weeks. You think those injuries are inconsequential compared to losing a 4 ERA pitcher that chokes in the post season, losing a few days of Johnny Damonic, losing a .277 career avg. catcher that hit .300 and drove in 100 runs once, and your other assorted injuries. I don't think you have a good chance of making that case. Let me point out that I am not using our injuries as an excuse. There's no reason to make an excuse since you are not ahead of us in the standings. We are still ahead in the standings. I was just stating my opinion that they had held up better than I had expected without Ortiz. Now, he's back, and I expect the offense to pick up and be more consistent. Stop being a jerk when you were AWOL on this site for most of the season.

The injury bug hit us more than it did you. We have lost Arod, Jeter, Posada, Damon, Matsui, Wang. I won't put Hughes and Kennedy in the mix since they sucked.

You lost Schilling for the season, Dice-K, Lugo, and Papi.

Not even close buddy. Plus, we pretty much lost Posada for the season as well as Matsui, where you lost Schilling, and knew he was going to break down a bit too.

Injuries are no excuse, and you guys are back to healthy. We made this deal to fill holes, still have no idea on Matsui & Posada.

I'd rather lose any two other hitters on the Red Sox or Yankees than to lose Ortiz.

Arod is a better hitter than Ortiz, and means more to the Yankees. You still have Manny and Drew for power. No knock on Ortiz, but he's not the hitter Arod is. At least until September/October that is.

Beckett, Lowell, Colon, Aardsma, Timlin, Buchholz have all been on the DL and don't forget about everybody that got the flu.
