Yeah that was Rick Reilly, a guy who while sometimes corny and annoying, is a very good writer.

He's not usually the "calling you out" type but he's also not one to pull punches.

In my opinion it was pretty damn accurate.

id like to see cher and brett favre in a duet during the superbowl this year.

maybe favre can do michael boltons version of

""when a man loves a woman"" as a solo and then back it up with a swinging duet with cher

Just heard on SportsCenter that a Favre trade to Tampa Bay is likely to be finalized and announced sometime on Wednesday. Nothing on the internet so far though, so obviously, as always, take it with a grain of salt.

You did? Hmm. All I heard on SC was that he spoke to the Bucs and Jets about a possible trade.

Just heard it again. Tampa Bay is likely to acquire him and the deal could be announced as early as tomorrow afternoon.

It's gotta be done quickly because he'll need to get into camp, learn the offense, etc. Even though he's a veteran, he can't some in 2 weeks before the season starts and expect to be effective...any deal will happen very quickly.

Good for the Pack, looking to the future. Obviously they don't think they contend with Favre this year. Doesn't mean they contend with Rogers either, but at least they admit that they'll be Favre-less at some point and they'll move ahead, not giving in to the whims of fans who have big nostalgic woodies for Brett.

i think they win the nfc last year with rogers at the helm

no way did the gmen have business getting past the pack at home

favre can still bring it but like elway, will thrive only in a balanced attack with a defense that stays off the field.

in anycase let this be the end of the nonsense

greenbay is f***ed either way unless they get out to a 7-1 start, the flannel wearing sweat hogs were already screaming for favre at practice yesterday, rogers and the coach are in a no win situation

I think the Jets just became a playoff team. The Jets now have a QB who can throw the ball down the field consistently for the duration of an entire game.

I'm not convinced.

Who's he gonna throw to? Who's gonna protect him? Who's gonna run the ball? Who they got on D? He has to learn an all new system half way through camp in a new league.

Coles, Cotchery, Keller. Faneca, Ferguson, Mangold, Woody. Thomas Jones.

Yes he has to learn a new system. He also gets to run his own system because he's Brett Favre.

This makes the Jets infinitely better than they were.

I am beyond excited. You have no idea. I'm getting my jersey as soon as possible.

I don't see them overtaking the Pats obviously' date=' but they can be a wild card team. Favre right now is such an upgrade at QB for the options they had, it isn't even funny.[/quote']

Well, anyone who can throw the ball 25 yards downfield is an upgrade over Pennington. :dunno:

I'm fairly certain a guy from another forum I post at made that. That really got around. It looks good... doesn't look nearly as awkward as the mockup I saw of him in the Vikings unis...

Ya really think Favre is going for a ring? With the Jets?

Well I think that's why he is still around...but no I don't think the Jets will win the division, nevermind the SB.

I believe I read somewhere that the Jets would owe the Packers three first round picks if they decided they wanted to trade Favre to Minnesota. Not sure if there's a similar clause for the Bears.

and i thought the favre ballwashing was sickening in wisconsin.

he was the best qb in the nfc central and had a good season last year for sure.

lets see how this plays out in a place where they dont politely clap when you throw 4 picks in a game
