The thing is, it's not gonna get any easier for us. We always suck at Seattle, I don't care how terrible they are. Then we come home to face the Yankees and Angels.

Nah it is what it is not capable of winning on the road, Seattle will win 2/3 we will go home win 3-4 out of 6. This is not a playoff team guys this is a team that can't finish games. Outside of Papelbon this is the worst bullpen in the AL east.

Didn't pretty much this same exact team win a world series one season ago? How is this not a playoff team? They suck on the road but are quite capable of repeating what they did last season.

Bullpen was lights out. Right now Okajima is not our setup guy. This same exact team last year wins this game 3-2 cause Okajima has a solid 8th and Papelbon finishes it.

 

Playoff teams don't play 10+under 500 on the road add on the Yankees are on fire looks like it will be a solid 90-72 year in third place. But then again what Theo does July 31st can tack on 2-4 wins cause the pen just can't get it to Paps right now.

Masterson is getting seasoned to get into that role - his promotion to the bullpen will itself . As long as the Sox can keep their heads above water, I have pretty good faith that they'll at least make the playoffs.

 

I understand your frustration with Okajima, but he's not necessarily a "fluke" like you've titled him. If anything, we should have expected that Okajima was going to be nothing more than a buddy for Dice-K when we first brought him over here from Japan. No one saw his 2007 season coming. The main difference though, is that, for some reason his splitter just isn't dipping at the end.

 

I don't argue about their road struggles, but I think calling a team who won the world series a season ago, such as this one, not a playoff team is a bit much in my opinion.
