He's making fun of you. Darin Erstad, a prime example of a s*** player who is often commended for his "grit", like David Eckstein. Often writers and idiots with keyboards cite Erstad's college football career as a reason for his grit. Which is f***ing retarded.

So wait...now you're telling me you think they would continue this pace without David Ortiz in the lineup and would still remain the 2nd best offense in the AL??

Maybe.

If you look at the stats that JHB provided, it shows that Ellsbury is ready to bust out of his slump. I believe that Jason Varitek is not a .130 hitter, (haha, maybe he is) and the rest of offense are all above average hitters, save for Lugo. This team even has two very good options at AAA they have yet to use for any long period of time. Jed Lowrie and Chris Carter can both upgrade the lineup.

Did you consider we had more home games in June not to mention interleague play on the road at Cincinnati and Philadelphia which is always a nice place to pad stats?

Yes, but the effect wasn't as big as someone might think. The offense managed to score 4.7 runs a game in the series against Cincy and Philly, which actually dragged the numbers downward. Furthermore, the offense scored 5.06 runs at home in the fifteen games they played at Fenway, compared to 5.16 runs away from Fenway.

I know you are not one to give in when it comes to a debateable argument :D

No, but this is enjoyable.

To think the Red Sox will bring up both players this season and use them for an extended period of time is wishful thinking. If Julio Lugo wasn't benched last season while batting under .200 forever, he won't get benched this season (we all know I wish for that more than anyone). As for Chris Carter, I don't think we will ever know

That it is but I'll leave off with this. I believe any team that loses it's best hitter will take a step back, hence the Red Sox would not be the 2nd best offense in the AL if they were to play without David Ortiz.

I agree, if we were talking about he David Ortiz who was an MVP candidate for the last five years.

I don't think he is that guy this year.

Anything positive about these losses, the last four losses have been by one run, and this one was only by two.

This team still has a better run differential than the Rays. I think they'll be able to rebound.
