I completely agree. Colon's problem last year was that he was gassed after the all star break. No point in making him throw a ton of pitches and tire out his arm already. I like that they are easing him back into action.

Sadly as pathetic as Lugo's offensive performance seems to be this year, he is acutally batting about 10 BA points above his career avg.

I think at the start of the season Manny said he would hit for Papi if needed when Ortiz was going thru that bad slump. May be Ortiz can say the same about Manny now? It will be nice if they both hit at the same time for a change.

 

And - $20 million option will be an interesting discussion throughout the season.

Colon was nearing his limit and had to sit for a very lengthy bottom of the 5th. It was absolutely the right move there.

 

We almost always get shut down by bad pitchers.
