Two out of five were on curveballs.

Answer the point: did you acknowledge one single f***ing curveball?

The Roberts hit and the Bynum popup.

He threw curveballs and got s***** contact, if any, off of them. Why continue to pump fastballs?

The two big hits of the inning, the Millar single and the Scott HR, were on really poorly located fastballs.

that's the point.

This looks more like the Josh Beckett of 2006 than 2007 so far this season....with the team going through a slump you look to your ace to stop the bleeding...not keep it going

Disagree, this has been his worst start but he had a few of them last year.

Should we be scared about having Youk in RF? Has he ever played the outfield? On the other hand, I guess I trust him as emergency outfielder as much as anyone else.

No challenge with that point.

He has to set up his curve with his fastball or it's ineffective. I'll grant you s***** location, but he was mixing his pitches.

Hey, MDC in the game, Youkilis in right field...oddly, I'm feeling good about this one.

He's played left field before.

Youkilis has played left field before. He was reasonably good regarding range, but his routes are understandably erratic and his arm is inadequate for right field.

I'd like to see the pitch/fx data, but where were the 2-seamers and changeups?

The results look more like 2006, but I think when all is said and done, the 2008 version of Josh Beckett will remind most of 2007. His stuff has been very good, but sometimes it just doesn't work out for you. If he winds up with a 4.15 ERA at the end of the season, but gets most of his best work in during the second half of the season I don't think I will be complaining about April so long as we're in the playoffs.

As a first take, the new 2008 algorithm is separating fastballs and changeups well.

if you want better post-game breakdowns, PM me. :)
