Okay, enough fanny smack play. It's time to hit hard. Really, enough is enough. Run support NOW. April is GONE. It's May, no more excuses.

Teams: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Boston Red Sox

Location: Fenway Park, Boston

Date/Time: May 2, 2008 at 7:05pm EST

TV: NESN, MLBtv

Starting Pitchers:

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/logos/38x45/bos_38x45.gif #61 Clay Buchholz, RHP (1-2, 4.08)

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/images/logos/38x45/tb_38x45.gif #36 Edwin Jackson, RHP (2-2, 3.86)

Scouting Report:

Rays: Jackson had a nice outing against the Red Sox Saturday night when he allowed one run on five hits en route to a no-decision. The right-hander continues to show electric stuff, but struggles on the nights when his stuff is not at its best. Jackson has worked to try to minimize the big inning. If he is locating his 97-mph fastball, his other pitches can work well, particularly his slider. But he has shown no hint that he is close to finding consistency on the mound. Jackson is 0-1 with a 6.92 ERA in three appearances at Fenway Park.

Red Sox: The young hurler is coming off a brilliant performance in which he held Tampa Bay to three hits over 7 2/3 innings. The right-hander had a no-hitter until the fourth inning, and a shutout until he allowed a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. Although he took the loss, Buchholz had a dominating nine strikeouts and just two walks. He has thrown at least six innings in all five of his career starts and will look to continue that momentum when he faces the Rays for the second time in his young career.

some early runs would really be nice tonight

Concur.

So would late runs, as well as middle-inning runs.

Frankly, I'd be happy with Boston players up and running, running for office, running wild, running with the Big Dogs, maximizing gain in the long run, or pushing for success in the short run. I'd be ecstatic to hear Don Orsillo describing Boston's success in run-on sentences. If we were leading after the fifth, I'd be happy over if there were a cloudburst over Fenway and a river ran through it. I'd settle for a delay of game while a PETA babe raced onto the diamond carrying a John Updike novel screaming, "Run, Rabbit, Run!" Frankly, right now I'm at the point where I'd be happy missing the part of the game where Boston got the game-winning hit because I had the runs.

But let's hope that tonight starts a good run of luck.

Edit: Marc Normandin, BP:

Buchholz does have one notable flaw in the early going: the opposition is hitting a meager .188/.233/.275 when no one's on base, but they have had much more success when Buchholz pitches from the stretch (.310/.396/.524).

Are we still under a rain delay? I haven't checked MLBtv yet.

Also, we really need atleast 2/3 against Tampa. A sweep would be gravy, but 2 will put us back in 1st place. We need this.

Funny, I don't recall stories of the legends of May. Given the time of the year, I'd demostrate some caution with the word "need".

Okay late me rephrase...

Taking two of three from Tampa Bay would be nice. A sweep would be gravy. If we do this we are in first place in the division. That would be nice to have.

Satisfied?

Thanks none the less.

9:30 now? Well, better late than never. Makes up for me getting home late so I can actually watch it.

Here's to a good game.

so since its a rain delay, im watching the Yanks-Ms game and it got me thinking about something. if Ichiro and Dice-K are both Japanese, why does Ichiro have "Ichiro" on the back of his jersey but Dice-K has "Matsuzaka"?

Yeah' date=' because the Globe runs on Pacific Standard Time.[/quote']

Well excuse the f*** out of me for not realizing right away it's the "Boston Globe." We don't get that down here. Now that I know where she's getting her source from, I won't have to ask anymore. Goddamn.

I love the featured comment on ESPN.com right now

"Edinson Volquez + Dusty Baker = Edinson Volquez done in two years."

I don't know, but I'm guessing that it's because those are their names. ;)
