Go Dice-K! GO RED SOX!

From the Globe:

You'll notice that J.D. Drew and Jacoby Ellsbury are both out because of their recent injuries. Dustin Pedroia, however, is in, even after jamming his shoulder on that ninth-inning diving play yesterday.

WOW I just realized its been like 30+ inning that the red sox havent hit for an extra base hit

You asked me sometime back if I like the offense? Guess my answer..

they were first in the league before just 5 days ago ' date=' its just a slump[/quote']

At least you did not call me stupid - that's nice. Anyway - I think the 'slump' will continue as the offense is flawed - we will see.

I will.

You are stupid.

Who is the Sox equipment manager? I'd like to find out what he did with all of our bats!

LOL. I know man, 2 pitchers duels in a row. Nothing like a windy cold April night to deaden the bats. Bith pitchers have been pretty good tho.

So, how much of our offensive ineptitude is cold bats on our part, and how much is running into a string of good pitchers? All the pitchers who have hosed us recently are guys that are capable of fine pitching on any given night. So do we suck, or are they good... or some of both?

We got swept by Tampa - and our nemesis Kazmir was on dl.

I think we are getting on base - just not enough power to drive the runners home.

And nice to know you too. That sounds like a very logical argument

Detroit got shut out twice in a row. I guess they look like Tigers, but growl like kittens lol! That's their real flaw. No team chemistry, no offense, but great pitching, though.

You bring up a good point, but with our offense, a good pitcher should give up 2 runs or so over 7 innings or something like that. We shouldn't be blanked through and through night in and night out. We're going against good pitchers...not Bob Gibson and Walter Johnson.

Yeah - but the Tigers offense came around after a slow start. We went on a little hitting streak for a week - and went back to slump.

Listen - I love my team - but overall what I have seen in the first month gives me a bad feeling. Lowell got his contract - he will not be the same as last year. Drew started well - but went back to the same old Drew that we know. Papi is clearly recovering from his surgery and not the same. The team is too much dependent on Manny - we desperately miss a power bat in the line-up.

IMO - as JHB says YMMV.

And even with all that, the team is averaging 4.79 R/S a game. Good for 3rd in the AL.

Ortiz won't be hitting this poorly all year, and neither will Lowell. They won't score 1000 runs, but they'll be in the top five in runs scored.

I beg to differ on Lowell for sure - let us compare notes after 162 games. Ortiz has never been in a slump like this before - but just because he is who he is - I am more hopeful he will regain his old form.
