Clay Buchholz, RHP (1-1, 4.79)

Red Sox (15-10) @ Edwin Jackson, RHP (2-2, 4.63)

Rays (12-11)

Holy sweet flying Fahk Boys, lets get a W! Let's keep it simple, simple layout for the game, for a simple win:thumbsup:

Scouting Report:

Red Sox: Buchholz pitched brilliantly in his last start, firing six shutout innings in a victory over the Rangers. He allowed five hits and struck out six. Opponents are hitting .274 against Buchholz. This will be his first career appearance against Tampa Bay. Buchholz has given up three earned runs or less in three of his four starts. Buchholz has pitched eight games in his young career, going 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA.

Rays: Jackson suffered through another sub-par start Sunday against the White Sox when he allowed six earned runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. The right-hander continues to show electric stuff, but struggles on the days when his stuff is not at its best. Jackson has worked to try and minimize the big inning, which he did not do well against the White Sox, when he allowed the White Sox to put away the game with a four-run fifth inning.

At least our stopper is pitching today.

Edit: Career ERAs

Buchholz 3.12

Beckett 3.76

Matsuzaka 4.24

Wakefield 4.33

Lester 4.81

Bit of a small sample size for a man of stats such as yourself, but I'm not complaining:thumbsup:

um .. so how long it will take Colon to come to rotation.

Seriously - the control issues of our pitchers stink.

Edit - good recovery.

The Rays broadcast replayed the double play and Coco got bilked into sliding by Bartlett acting like a throw was incoming. My problem with that is the contact came well before he started the slide. Is he deaf?

Edwin Jackson has knock out stuff when he's locating. His problem is his command is streaky. Looks like he has it tonight.

For some reason - he locates it well against us always.

That was close. Every time - I see Pena hit a homerun - I say to myself - s*** he should be doing that for us. Looks like last seasonw as no fluke.

And I don't want to say the same thing for Hinske also.

From The Globe:

Brandon Moss has joined the Red Sox in Tampa, and the corresponding move might be a trip to the DL for Sean Casey. Casey suffered a strained right hip flexor in last night's game

Ortiz bruised his right knee, the one that was surgically repaired in the offseason, on that dive at first base last night, what Terry Francona called a "car accident." The team wants the swelling to go down on the knee, which explains why Ortiz was scratched from the lineup today.

And, yes, the move was Brandon Moss for Sean Casey, with Casey heading to the disabled list. It was a move that, under different (healthier) circumstances, the Red Sox might not have been forced to make.

Gamecast shows the ball/strike calling to be pretty rough - at least two pitches in the meat of zone were called balls. How does it seem to those of you watching the game? If it's true that the umpire is squeezing the pitchers, it makes their performances all the more remarkable.

Edit: And the first pitch to Lugo is outside the zone and called a strike? Maybe the ump just sucks? (Or maybe Gamecast isn't representing the locations well.)

Here' s the Ray Bullpen. Time to give the kid some breathing room.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Ray bullpen is really good so far this year. It's a safe bet that it's better than ours...

I think this one is a keeper. Oh, and I watched Kennedy today. He flat out sucks. The catcher's glove was moving 8+ inches on over half his pitches, and he grooved 4 absolute meatballs in the 2nd to Sizemore, Hafner, and Martinez that got fouled off. His "so-so" performance today was shamrock central.
