Crawford against Timlin. I don't like this. And, with how Tek looks, if he gets on, he's on 3rd within 3 pitches.

Plenty of guys had a chance to win this game, but this loss belongs to Francona. The stupidity of adhering to the contemporary "save your closer for the lead" ******** is how they ended up having one their worst relievers in against a good hitter with elite speed and a catcher who looks like death warmed over. This game was over as soon as Crawford got on base, and there are only two guys in the bullpen who are unlikely to let him get on. But they can't pitch without the "lead". f***ing idiotic.

The Redsox had the go ahead runner in scoring position with less than two outs in the 9th, 10th, and 11th and didn't score. Not Francona's fault.

I'm aware of that. Players don't get to decide the outcome of their performance. Managers have to accept the outcomes of their attempts and put the team in the best position to win after the results of the play. So, after the failed attempts to score those runs, the manager decided to match a s***** reliever up against a good hitter with elite speed and an ailing catcher. All while ostensibly "saving" his good relievers for when they happen to score. You don't get another chance to score on the road if you give up runs in extras when it's tied. And Timlin in that situation is a terrific recipe for giving up runs. That's on Tito.

I think most managers would have done the same thing and saved their closer. The bullpen would have basically been shot if Papelbon pitched a few and they were still playing. Who would be left? A sick MDC and Tavarez?

I beleive something similar happened against the White Sox in '06 one game before the All-Star break. Papelbon was used, and we went 17 innings all for nothing because all we had left was Rudy friggin Seanez. Luckily we had 3 days off.

I don't care what most managers would do. Tito played it by the contemporary ******** bullpen usage book, and that strategy is mightily flawed. Guess who that book has pitching the 9th if we have a 3 run lead tomorrow with the bottom of their order up? We saved our best BP arm for that? Nonsense.

I recall the long affair in Chicago. What I find funny is that you are complaining about using Seanez after the 'pen was used up then, but you want to use this year's Seanez earlier in the game (Timlin '08 = Seanez '06 - the ability to get K's).

timlin has been erratic at best and thats very kind

he shoulfve had a couple runs to work with

was it elsbury or crisp stranded at 3rd on pedroais single to right center?

i understand its ortiz coming up but the lack of aggression was rather stunning

this 3rd base coach has been infinitley better than the last 40 years of guys who had that mantle but hes also been very cautious and can justify it with the best 3-4 punch coming up in the last 70 years...tampa did the same thing on a shallow fly to elsbury, evidently they dont know he makes johnny damon look like dwight evans out there

starting with eddie f***ing kasko to don zimmerman to windmill kim to mike cubbage to rac slider i can cite season changing events that they were involved in

i dont know what happens to these guys when they don a sox uni but they either get our guys killed in a collision, thrown out at the plate or exercise so much confusion the guy rounding 3rd dont know whether to shut whisle or go blind

It was Varitek who looks like he's been s***ing through a straw for a week. He hadn't reached 3B by the time the throw from right hit the cutoff man. No way he gets sent there.
