Since Gom threw out his two cents tonight, I want to know, who's pitching staff would you rather have?

Of course I'm talking about the Sox and the Yankees.

But I don't just want to focus now but in five years, who's going to have the upper-hand?

I expect that in five years the revenues from new Yankee Stadium and the huge New York media market (and YES network) will result in the Yankees' being able to afford a better payroll, and ballclub, than Boston will have.

Right now? I'd take Boston's staff, but it's close, especially if Schilling doesn't come back by September.

Schilling is done my friend. If the injury is as described' date=' there isnt a possible way for him to rehab it.[/quote']

I have actually heard that he wanted to start throwing soon, but the Red Sox are holding him back for a little bit.

they already can afford a higher payroll than Boston and what does it get them anyway? Carl Pavano, Roger Clemens, Jaret Wright, Randy Johnson, etc.

950 ESPN radio had an interview with Curt's doctor(Craig Morgan) today when I was driving home.

He said that he could have takes a tendon and attached it to Curt's shoulder and Curt could have been back by ASB.

The red sox doctor disagreed and Schilling could not get a second opinion because as par latest CBA - his contract would have been void.

The doctor said that Schilling can not lift a weight of 5 lbs - and his pitching this year is out of question.

Here is the funny part - Schilling is so angry ( about what?) that he wants to rehab and pitch for the Yankees next year. Just Curt being Curt?

Just wrote it down exactly as I heard it - feel free to add your $0.02.

He had his chance after 2003...f*** him, I would never want to see that piece of s*** in pinstripes. Good thing we didn't waste Soriano on his sorry ass and let A-Rod go to Boston or stay in Texas.

I bet he's glad he didn't take that chance. Best decision he ever made.

How do you figure? If he's in pinstripes in 2004 it's us going to the World Series. He's not there to play miracle man for you guys in game 6. He probably gets his ring anyway....

The part in bold is kind of the point. If he goes to NY, he just another contributor to another WS. With benefit of hindsight and how things played out in '04, his legacy received more boost from coming to Boston.

Please, please, please, don't jump of the eff'ing deep end and go on some nonsensical rant about how I just hate the NYY. Just think about it with a dash of common sense and reason. What makes his legacy stronger? Going to NY and being a part of #27, or putting his career on the line and ending the "curse" (as promised in the offseason)?

What the hell's the point of trying to re-create history had Schilling gone to the Yankees instead? In that case, I can say that if Schilling didn't go to the Sox then Theo would've gone out and gotten another #2 starter who probably wouldn't have s*** the bed in Game 2 like Schilling did. And if Schilling pitched either Game 1 or Game 2 for you guys, then he probably doesn't even recreate the outstanding starts Mussina and Lieber had

From that point of view I have to agree with ORS. Being part of #27, as was expected in 2004 would not have been as climatic as the improbable comeback the Sox pulled off and the ending of the "curse" for Boston. Schilling was the ace of the 2004 Sox staff and his gutsy performances in the post season were nothing short of amazing considering the injury he suffered. It all fed his ego as promised.

On the flip side, he would have also been the ace of the Yankees staff in 2004 had he chosen to sign there instead of Boston. I guess the free Thanksgiving dinner was the deciding factor.

He wasn't free to sign anywhere he wanted. He was traded to the Red Sox and the 72 hour window fell during thanksgiving.

It was a joke in response to the hypothetical situation that was presented

I never disputed that it was a better personal option for him. But going to the Yankees wouldn't have necessarily been a bad decision. He wouldn't have been high-horse Curt, bloody sock and all, but he would have gotten a ring. That's all I'm saying.

What injury? It was ketchup!! He needed an excuse for blowing in his previous start after signing that big contract. He sucks in Game 6 with a bloody sock, people understand. He pitches well, or even great, he's a hero. Win-win for Curt and the bottle of Heinz.

Just for the record before I get a mob of Boston fans jumping down my throat, I'm only kidding.

Begging the question. That's another logical fallacy.
