You know, Manny is a pretty good DH.

Ortiz sprained his wrist Saturday night while swinging at a pitch in Boston's 6-3 win over Baltimore. He left for a pinch hitter with the count full.

"It feels the same," Ortiz said Sunday morning. "We'll see what the doctors say. I got to get an MRI."

The examination is expected to take place in Boston on Monday, according to bench coach Brad Mills, who subbed for Terry Francona during Sunday's 9-4 victory.

"We're going to send him back to Boston tomorrow morning," Mills said after the game. "Kind of precautionary right now. Get an MRI, and get him looked at, and we'll go from there and see what happens."

Your question doesn't deserve to be answered because you throw a s*** fit if the offense doesn't score 8 runs a game or is as good as the 2003 offense.

I did not ask the question to you. I don't think we have much to talk. My apologies if it was not clear.

You post the question on a public forum and you run the risk of having everyone respond to you.

GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR

I asked a question sometime back. At what point we say that the offense is not going through slump - they are not as good as advertised.

I am not saying that I am giving up on the offense. But if they keep sucking on the road - when it is OK to say that something is wrong? June end? ASB? September?

When the team isn't in f***ing second in RS, you can start asking questions.

After winning 3 straight on the road, including two good offensive outputs......is probably not a fair time to answer the question.

I dont see what is wrong.....Lugo sucks, but besides that, everyone else is fine, or at least heading in the right direction.

How can anyone consider weekend games in Camden Yards to be road games for the Boston Red Sox?

 After all, that guy did come by yesterday asking where he could find a "Camden Yards: Fenway Park South" T Shirt.

offensive worries?

why?

this is baseball where the best team loses 60 games over 6 months and the defense puts the ball into play

i may be wrong here but i believe we're#1 in batting avg,3rd in runs scored

we have serious power at the 3-4-5 spots

our#2 hitter was leading the league in hits, our #1 is a burner who gets on base

our 6,youkillis(he bats all over the place) has a .400 obp,is a pitchers nightmare and has now come into his own with some more power, tek is a 15 hr guy,our 8 is hitting .300 then theres lugo at .280 i believe...jd drew, complete with vertigo and a strained cock this morning will hit 20 hrs and score 100 while having a .375+ obp.

theres nothing easy here for the opponents

this is the most balanced offensive unit theyve put on the field ever.

we are no longer a softball team,we can manufactire runs,we steal bases,we sacrifice and we can go deep....

honest to god this is the best product theyve had in my lifetime

now if ortiz is out for a stretch we may need a lefthanded bopper but sean casey is hitting 375 and isnt a horrible option despite his puzzling lack of power for such a big dude.

The report comes after the game tonight, and they were saying how they had to "figure out what to do or a plan of action" or something like that. Anyways that doesn't sound good. I am pretty nervous now that the news will be bad and he'll be out for a few weeks.

It isn't like he is the only one mashing down there. Bailey ain't doin' to shabby either. I like to see a guy like that come up from time to time. Chris Carter still has a chance to be a good major leaguer though. At 29, for bailey.... not so much.

I wonder why they moved Baily off catcher if he can rake like he has been this year or if this year was kind of unexpected.

My understanding is that Bailey has holes in his swing that better-disciplined MLB pitchers can work to their advantage, while Carter is a complete batter whose stats will translate well to MLB.

Neither Carter nor Bailey can play defense. Regarding Bailey at catcher, at age 20 in Rookie League he caught 21 games and had 3 errors and 6 passed balls. After that, he was predominantly a first baseman, and he remained prone to passed balls and errors when he did catch.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure what his experience was, I just knew he had some limited experience. Figured he was probably a butcher. And obviously, if you excel at AAA and are still there when you are approaching 30, there is something about your game that doesn't translate at the next level.

Carter can DH.

With you--that's why I posted this in the Big Papi thread.

I do, however, admire your economy of both words and keystrokes in communicating your point. :)

I'd love to see either Barry Bonds or Chris Carter given a chance.

My preference: immediately give Chris Carter a few at bats and start talking with Barry Bonds' agent, whomever it currently is. If Carter starts his MLB career batting .300/.400/.500, cool off on Bonds; if Carter hits a more reasonable .280/.350/.440, give Bonds a chance to show the city where he swore he'd never play what he can do.

Are you forgetting how important team chemistry is?

No. Given my post, you know exactly how important I see it as being. ;)

Let's try Carter first, though.

If they sign Bonds I'm personally driving to Boston to slap the s*** out of Epstein while John Henry laughs like a school girl.

I heard per ESPN they're going to attempt to let it heal naturally for a month and see if it'll straighten itself out. Really though I'm optomistic on the issue, I think he'll heal on his one, and I'm really not concerned with him out of the lineup.

Why, exactly?

Probably Manny DH' date=' Coco CF and Jacoby LF. And call up Carter maybe. No matter how much of a good idea it is, I highly doubt the Sox sign Bonds.[/quote']

You're probably right on all counts.

FWIW, Carter would benefit by sitting down vs. LHP...Manny could DH those games.

Well they won't sign him for the sole reason they won't want all the negative publicity that'll follow him, especially with his most recent indictments. No team wants that.

But you're right it'll probably be Manny DHing. Makes the most sense.

Without Ortiz in the lineup, the offense will have big problems in those games that Crisp plays.

What about a lefty[righty platoon of Bailey and Moss?
