Any guesses?

Will Crisp be traded and if so what for?

Does this mean Kielty is gone?

What about Lowrie since he is blocked at the ML level?

What other questions am I forgetting, and has anyone heard anything about these questions and more?

I think Kielty is gone already. And anymore speculation about Trot working out at 1st base which might make him more attractive to com back to the Sox as a backup for both RF and 1st?

right but what do we deal him for? Other than a catcher, is there something more useful to the Sox than a speedy guy who is an average hitter and plays great defense in the OF?

The old rumor that comes to mind for me is Coco + Lugo to the White Sox for O-Cab. Minnesota just announced that it's rebuilding this year (well, more or less made it official ;)) giving the White Sox a slightly better chance, and the trade fills two positions for Chicago with World Series veterans while bringing an upgrade at SS to Boston. O Cab is a free agent after this year, putting him in "contract year" mode and potentially opening a slot for Jed Lowrie in 2009.

I'm hoping that this morphs into a Crisp + Lugo for Greene trade, which makes more sense for both the Padres and the Red Sox, but there are no current rumors to that effect.

1. Crisp will be traded. For what, I really don't know. Prospects perhaps, maybe another reliever but I doubt it.

2. Yes, I think Kielty is gone.

3. I'd be surprised not to see Lowrie at some point this year, especially if Lugo struggles. September call up for sure, maybe sooner.

I believe that the catalyst to Crisp being traded will be the Eric Bedard deal.

If Adam Jones is included in that deal as rumored, the Mariners will have a clear need for another OF. Neither Luis Gonzalez nor Brad Wilkerson, both rumored to be possible M's if the deal goes through, has the kind of value that Crisp has.

The player I'd be interested in is Jeff Clement. Clement is not without his flaws. According to Keith Law he's a poor defensive catcher and might not stick there. He also has possible bone chips in his elbow. However he's a very valuable left handed bat with power and strong plate discipline numbers in the minors. I think they might be able to work with him in the minors to make him a passable defensive catcher who could play in 09.

The Sox could also use the deal to aquire a backup CF. Jeremy Reed is still with the Mariners and could definitely help the Sox in this regard. The Mariners with George Sherrill gone in the Bedard deal might be interested in a LOOGY like Javy Lopez.

So it would be Crisp and Lopez for Clement and Reed.

Then you sign Brad Wilkerson and voila, we are ready for the A's and Japan. You have a full roster too.
