she was probably at a .30 when she posted bill....

based on tolerance the .08 law is extreme ********.

there are men i work with who are so timid in the car theyre dangerous to everyone involved on the road..

yet on friday night

they'll have their 3 zimas and be shattered and want to go clubbing

08 applies to them....

i also work with people who will leave here, drive to the bar at 5 and pound booze till 2am then bback on the job at 630am smelling like midnight on the volga,no doubt theyre legally drunk....

maad and the defense attorneys along with the d.a.'s have made dui a joke under the constitution

nobdoy will stick up for fairness in a dui bill

they dont want to be seen as being sympathetic to drunks....

this is for the younger men out there

if youre under the cops flashlight at 130am and even remotely think youre over the limit dont take the breathalyzer, judges refuse to take it because they know its unreliable, cops wont take it for the same reason....just open your window wide enuff to pass your license and registration to the gestapo who are looking out for your best interests when they pull you over at 130am....

For reference' date=' I saw a guy on New Yrs whose BAC was 8 times the legal limit and he was still talking. [/quote']

For clarification, you saw a guy who was conscious and talking at a BAC of 0.64?

yep. Alcohol "poisoning" is actually a depression of your respiratory rate. Those who have built a tolerance can ward off this consequence until very high levels. You dont actually run into toxicologic death until you reach a level of 1.5. That is an absolute fatal level of alcohol due to acid base and electrolyte abnormalities.

Sad thing is that if a group called DAMM ever took root (Drunks Against Mad Mothers) and gained a bigger following than MADD, representing more votes for politicians who supported it, pols would bend the other way...its not about what is right, its about what gets a person elected. Thus the discrepancies between levels and causes of impairment.

Thanks for the clarification and explanation.

My understanding is that there are two factors involved once one gets past the effects of food in one's stomach and body weight that influence what the BAC is. One is acquired tolerance; the other, more important, is genetic, dealing with baseline tolerance. There are two different genetic types, I've read, one of which has a baseline tolerance three times greater than the other.

A conscious and fuctioning BAC anywhere over 0.30, I suspect, involves a person who has genetic tolerance and some acquired tolerance as well.

I know someone who once consumed roughly two fifths of tequila in one afternoon, evening and early morning (about sixteen hours), so I've seen one similar feat, I guess. Still, it just seems extraordinary to see BAC over 0.30...I've seen lots of BAC levels reported through the decades of my career, and very few went far above 0.30.

A good first step would be untying Federal Highway funds from any and all strings attached under the very sound perspective that states should be restricted as little as possible. Every state has had the opportunity to see the benefits of a 0.08 BAC--maybe it's time for each state to continue maintaining that standard or to come up with even better ways of maintaining the public safety and the common good. :dunno:

Damn, this guy is a total loser.

"Fallen Yankee hero Jim Leyritz was busted early Thursday on charges of beating up his ex-wife. Leyritz went ballistic and dragged Karrie Leyritz out of bed and socked her twice because she'd written a check without his permission, police said"
