I would love to have Johan on the Sox as much as anyone in the "Nation" but not at the expense of Jacoby. Homegrown talent is nice to have, and in the case of Ellsbury, he is a Theo's choice as is Buchholtz and I think the homework that went into the decisions of drafting these two players is worth grading out over the long haul.

If Minessota isn't careful they will end up getting nothing for Johan, which could be a mistake for their long term goals. Coco and Lester and Masterson and maybe an Etc. will be a pretty nice haul far them. Or better yet make Ny give up more than they want

WAY TO GO THEO. Have the balls to hold on to them!!!

Fair enough. I tend to take a different stance, especially since we have a more than capable centerfielder in Coco Crisp.

I disagree. While, yes, Theo and the trio did a lot of homework over their drafting decisions, that isn't really any different from any other decision they make. In the front office of baseball, it is very important not to get emotionally attached to any one player. To not even consider trading someone because you spent a lot of time grooming them is silly when there is a vast improvement to be made.

I'm sure they're being careful, thats why they haven't dealt him yet. They want the best possible trade...

...And this would not be it. If they wanted this deal, they would have made it, because the Red Sox would absolutely make the trade. They can get a stud prospect among other things. There is no reason for them to settle for a solid outfielder and two decent young pitchers. They can do better.
