From ESPN

Paul Lo Duca is staying in the National League East, agreeing to a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals.

The contract agreement was first reported by The Washington Post.

Lo Duca, 35, had been the Mets' starting catcher the past two seasons but the team decided not to retain him for a third season.

Instead, New York traded outfielder Lastings Milledge to Washington to fill its catching vacancy, acquiring backstop Brian Schneider and outfielder Ryan Church in return.

Lo Duca will be counted on to tutor backup Jesus Flores, who is considered Washington's catcher of the future.

After a stellar 2006 season in which he hit .318 and helped the Mets reach the National League Championship Series, Lo Duca battled injuries in 2007 and slumped to .272.

Lo Duca, a career .288 hitter, has also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Florida Marlins in his 11-year major league career.

The new ballpark isn't as pitcher friendly as RFK was.

Left Field 336 ft Left Field 335 ft

Left Center 377 ft Left Center 380 ft

Center Field 403 ft Center Field 410 ft

Right Center 370 ft Right Center 380 ft

Right Field 335 ft Right Field 335 ft

Still certainly not a hitters park, considering the comparable dimensions to RFK, but gives the hitters a little bit more of a break. The italicized numbers are the RFK dimensions.
