holliday got robbed on this one , Im totaly shocked, cant see how rollis wins it

I am not shocked and I would not have been shocked if it was Holliday or Fielder. NL Mvp unlike AL was too close to call. Rollins had a strong finish and the primary reason why the Phillies were able to bypass Mets.

look at the stats between holliday and rollins , its not even close , holliday should have won it

Posted

Rollins : 296 AVG /344OBP/ 531SLG/ 875OPS

holliday: 340AVG/ 405OBP/ 607SLG/ 1012OPS

rollins: 139runs/212hits/30HR/94RBI/

holliday:120runs/216hits/36HR/137RBI

not to mention rollins had 80 more AB and still wasent even close to holliday , and rollins defense wasent that great enough for that to be a factor in this

I am not a stats guy - but Rollins probably has more steals and speed.

rollins had 41 steals to holliday's 11 ..that still dosent overcome ALL the other stats that holliday was better on

Still, when you consider position, Holliday was about 1/2 a win better. Better is better, but it's not the travesty you are making it out to be.

i doubt many writers looked at WARP and VORP when casting their ballots....i mean seriously, carlos marmol got a vote and soriano got a 3rd place vote....hmm i wonder if they were from the same writer

True, but since they didn't give it to the player with the most counting numbers, they obviously did their own positional consideration. And, when you look at the stats that consider that, it shows their values were close. I'm not saying they got it right, but it wasn't the robbery it's being portrayed as here.

well thats the one im trying to make

All ORS is saying is the vote was close. Your point was that it shouldn't have been close, which is wrong.

OPS+ rollins 118, holliday 150

runs created: rollins 135, holliday151

btruns: rollins 15, holiday 45

btwin: rollins 1.4 , holliday 4.5

I could go on and on , holliday should of won and its not close

And if you went on and on you'd continue to show how dense you are, because you are comparing their raw numbers without consideration of position. As it turns out, Rollins lower numbers from a SS are close in value to Holliday's numbers in LF. Hence, a close vote and not a robbery.

Exactly...if Julio Lugo and JD Drew put up similar offensive numbers for the Red Sox, who would you say had the better offensive year?

YES I DO ...IMO for rollins to be MVP his offensive numbers should of been a little bit closer to holliday's . then I wouldn't of have any problems of him winning it ( cause of his position)

but since hollidays offensive numbers were much better , I would have given it to him

Win Shares:

Holliday - 30

Rollins - 28

If you "got it" you would see that the numbers relative to position have their performances close enough to rule out a "robbery". And, furthermore, I don't see the point of getting so upset about Holliday not winning when there are others with just as legit cases. Hanley lead the NL in VORP, and Wright and Chipper Jones were both better than Holliday in that metric.

Holliday OPS

Home - 1.157

Road - .860

Looks a lot closer when you take away Coors Field.
