So, I wonder if Scott Proctor has crossed the border yet and claimed refugee status?

Anyways, good luck Joe, Don, and Kevin. Have fun working in front of fans who only stick around for 7 innings.

They now stick around for Saito in the 9th. That stereotype doesn't apply here.

Damn, that didnt take long. I figured Torre was going to retire. Sucks for Grady to be burned like that

So the Yankees need a new bench coach, pitching coach, hitting coach. I did hear also that they might need new 1st base & 3rd base coaches. Plus there is right now a gaping hole at 3rd base, Posada is about to be a free agent (what is he thinking about the Yankees now?), as well as Mariano (ditto), Andy Pettitte (2008 option year up to him). Its all hands on deck in the Bronx

hmm well interesting developments I have to say. I never really considered Mo or Jorgie to not re-up with us, but with Joe back in the game, I'd have to say it's the first time I'm starting to think that there's an outside chance we won't see those 2 in stripes next year. But then again the Dodgers are pretty set at Catcher and CL anyway so maybe I shouldn't worry too much :P

Don "I won't take any job but manager with the Yankees" Mattingly will follow Torre to L.A. Okay Don, you may be loved in NY, but I believe if this pans out your image is about to be severely tarnished. You would accept a job under Torre in that cesspool of L.A., in the hapless National League, but not accept such a position in the Yankee organization, in the superior American League and the toughest division in baseball, the A.L. East. You're a phony Don - you just reinforce that the Steinbrenners and Cashman made the right decision in hiring Joe Girardi instead of a Torre clone. The Yankees are going through some serious transition and need a manager who is able to bring a new style to fit with that transition. Don you have proven you are not that individual.

Exactly, it's an unfair sterotype. Fans leave early for every team.

LA got a bad rap because TV audiences could see the parking lot during the broadcast.

Since Gagne and Saito have been Dodgers, you don't see fans leaving early anymore.

Aside from 2 teams, the AL East relatively weak.

Top to bottom the AL Central, NL East, and NL West are stronger.

NL West had D-Backs, Rockies, and Padres in playoff contention past the last day of the regular season. D-Backs and Rockies both swept in their NLDS series. the Pads could have been there just as easily, and the Dodgers had the best record in baseball until their old/young division caused them to implode. I still say they are the most talented team in the division.

It's one thing to be a fan, or even a homer, but give credit where it's due. The NL is not "hapless".

Ive gone to Fenway 15-20 games a year since 2003... Yeaaa I cant remember Fenway emptying as the game got in the later innings

the NL is hapless and pathetic. Thats point A.

Dodger fans are hapless and pathetic. That is point B.

Dodger fans are the only ones who stick around for 4 innings of a close baseball game. That is point C.

This is f***ing crazy. Is Kevin Long indeed going, I heard earlier that Girardi quickly got him on board to remain with the Yankees. Can somebody confirm either?

I can see Mo going there but not Jorgie. But I think more likely Mo resigns and stays with us. We'll see though how things unfold.

If Torre takes the Dodger job for less money than the Yankees offered, his family should have a court appoint a gurdian to take control of his finances. Also, Torre, a kid from Brooklyn is going to end his career voluntarily with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Shame on him.

I've seen it in Chicago (both parks), San Francisco, and Philly.

ESPNRadio said that Mattingly and Long would be coming to LA, but then again, they also said that Torre was signing the extension Steinbrenner offered him. The Dodgers have no use for Rivera; they have Saito already. And they also have no use for Posada; they have Martin. They'll both follow the money instead of the manager.

I read that Long is going to soon sign a 3 year deal with the Yankees worth $1 million.

Why would Posada go? To be Martin's backup?

No, hapless is correct. While the D-Backs, Rockies and Pads may have been battling each other for the Division title it was all really a mute point in the end, wasn't it, another WS sweep at the hands of an AL East team.

Munch on this "homer" -- Since 1997, the AL has won 7 WS, the NL 4 and here's the breakdown:

WS Appearances:

NL West - 4 (1 Title)

NL East - 4 (2 Titles)

NL Cent - 3 (1 Title)

AL West - 1 (1 Title)

AL East - 7 (5 Titles)

AL Cent - 3 (1 Title)

is torre hitting behind nomar??

if not then they still will be battling the giants for the nl west cellar.

the nl west always has these gaudy pitching lines because of the enormous parks and lite hitting lineups.

now everyone knows what i have been saying is the gospel

that league f***ing blows

tampa would be in the hunt over there

Aaron Boone got Grady fired.

Aaron Boone?

********.

Grady Little got Grady fired.

You had to fkn bring this up, huh? Trying to kill me?

That game represents one of the worst nights of my life. When he sent Pedro out in the 8th I said to my wife "What is Little doing? we're going to fkn lose." Sure enough, the wheels started falling off, and Grady ignored the fact that his BP had been dominant and stuck with Pedro. I was reduced to a xanax popping, beer drinking fool...by the time Boone hit the winner, I was so fkn numb it was ridiculous.

Quite possibly the worst job of managing I have ever...or will ever...see.

Had you guys won that game, Little would probably still be the manager. Or you guys might still have a massive WS drought.

Boone shouldn't have had that AB in Game 7.
