Says Bedard could be available. He would be a nice #2 SP for our rotation but he might come at a heavy cost, so not sure. Bowden, Crisp and another prospect or two maybe?:dunno:

In a word, no. Bowden, Crisp and propsects are not enough to land probably one of the top 5 arms in the AL. Especially when trading within the same division.

Just commenting on what I read, I too would be surprised if he left, but if he doesn't want to be in Baltimore(who in there right mind would with the worst owner in sports), the the O's might look to get something for him. But thats down the road I think.

Who is the big name that you think(anyone) will get moved via the trade this offseason?

I couldn't see the Twins parting with Santana this offseason. They just exercised the option on Nathan and have Liriano coming back this year. They are just one season removed from a 97 win campaign and still have a lot of talent up and down that rotation. I wouldn't be too surprised to see them try to acquire one more starter this offseason and maybe a second basemen and they would have a pretty nice roster ready for 08.

However, if Bedard is available and the Orioles would be dumb enough to trade him to a divisional opponent, it wouldn't shock me at all if the yankees could put together a package to net him. I think Orioles could be big sellers this offseason (read: medium sellers. they really don't have much.)

Sources tell ESPN's Peter Gammons that Miguel Cabrera will be available on the trade market this winter.

If the Red Sox can't resign Mike Lowell or get A-Rod I'm guessing this is the best player available. He is no longer a 3B option but Kevin Youkilis is.

He will cost a lot and I'm not willing to give up a Clay Buchholz for him.

I agree. The only thing you trade potentially dominant starting pitching for is already established dominant starting pitching.

See Beckett, Josh.

I'd rather have Lowell/Arod + Buchholz than Cabrera. Plus Buchholz wouldn't be the only one going over, two or three of Ellsbury, Bowden, Delcarmen, Youkillis may be necessary also.

MC would be a nice pick up if it doesn't cost Buccholz/Ellsbury. MC has enough glove to be an adequate first basemen. This could be the RH bat that could potentially replace Manny. Most people compare MC to a young Manny and tat ain't too shaby.

The trick here is to get him here without giving up Buccholz/Ellsbury. I think Lester should be an untouchable at this point, but some here might be willing to part with him for MC. The Marlins need an everyday CF, and Coco could be that guy. He does make a little money but it doesn't increase alot over the span of the contract. No i'm not saying Coco would be the center piece. But him plus 3 top 15 organization prospects should draw some consideation from FL.

Bowden/Bard(anyone who throws 100mph has some value even if they havn't pitched good there 1st pro season)/Hansen/Lowrie/Carter, just to name a few. Basically like I said anyone besides Buccholz/Ellsbury/Lester.

In all honesty any deal with them is going to have Bowden in it. With the 3 untouchables hes pretty much next on the list.

Bowden, Crisp, + 2 top 10-15 prospects, any takers?

that wouldn't be enough for MC' date=' not even close[/quote']

Hard to say depending on those two other prospects. I didn't think Anabal Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez was enough for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell but.....

We just don't know what other GMs value.

IMO if ellsbury or buchholz is not in the package , i cant see a trade hapening for MC

RSR is right. The Florida GM would hang up on Theo, and he should.

Although, it may be possible to get him without moving Buchholz.

you should see some of the "trade offers" on the yankee sites for Cabrera. Frickin hilarious.

"So, we can trade Marquez and Karstens for Cabrera straight up!"

Ummm, not gonna happen.

Either way, Cabrera scares me. He has the work ethic of a Hilton, the body of a mule, and the head of an idiot. The only reason why people want him is because he hits like Aaron. He is being billed as a 3b, but we all know his future, more likely recent future, is tied to the right side of the diamond or at DH. And with his body continuing to widen as he ages, he is a good bet to have a lot of injuries earlier than most. Plus, now that the Marlins have both the sox and yankees bidding as well as a host of other teams more willing to deal than pay ARods ridiculous requests, the bidding will be crazy. I'd just as soon sit this one out and go from here with what we have than rape our farm and our current MLB rotation for a player who doesnt seem to want it.

Well if thats the case and his price is going to be so hi, maybe not, but I would be in the hunt right up until the end so it drives the price for the NYY to ridiculous extremes. The with NYY in no need of a 3B and a guted farm sysytem, the Sox can turn around and sign Lowell without having to bid against the Yanks.
Posted
But it could backfire as well. If MC doesn't go to the Yanks or Sox then Lowell's price will sky rocket.
Posted
Lowell's price is already high. He is at the end of his prime and with the way he resurrected his career in Boston, a case could be made that he will continue to dominate until he's in his mid to late 30s. I dont happen to buy that argument, but we shall see. One thing that will hurt his negotiating status is his home away splits. He is a huge Fenway lover and that will hurt him in negotiations with any other team but Boston.

lol Fenway lover

Hopefully the Yanks throw 5/15 at him.

I also read an article about this author. Apparently he gets a lot of his facts wrong. There is absolutely, positively ZERO way Lincecum gets moved this offseason without a pudgy 3b from Florida coming the other way.

Coco plus 2 prospects? BWAHAHAHA

Do you guys think Coco, Moss and Masterson would get Cabrera? I'm just pulling s*** out of my ass here, but I want to know if it would net him. Maybe sub one out for Lester.
