I doubt if it is a big loss. Is Julian gonna replace him?

The better part of the link is Tito will start Jacoby instead of Coco - phewwww.

Not a big loss. I wouldn't have wanted Wake pitching in Colorado -- the knuckleball in the thin air of Colorado could've been a disaster.

No time for him to f*** around and try to give Coco a confidence boost. Ellsbury is the starting center fielder, and proven thus far he is needed in the lineup more than Crisp

I have a question - Bucholz has had 3 weeks to rest . Can we replace Wake with him and Gagne with Tavarez/Snider? Lester can still be available for long relief?

Is this worth a risk for a world series ring?

i love wakes versatility and i dont like this

i s*** yellow every time he takes the mound but he has been effective over the years despite his propensity to give up crooked #s from time to time

too bad

this is a mans man who is larger than life off the field in his charity work

I don't realy want Bucholz starting his first playoff game as a rookie in the world series, im scared of a second Rick Ankiel.

Rusty Buchholz would not be a good idea, IMO.

Wake is a risk, whether I want to really admit it or not. I like the guy, but he's getting pretty bad as he ages plus most players can hit off of him after 4 ABs.

What the f***?

Kyle Snyder, not Julian Tavarez or Bryan Corey, will replace Tim Wakefield on Boston's World Series roster.

Bizarre. Snyder had a 6.32 ERA over the final two months and pitched just four times in September. Corey made nine appearances in September and had a 1.93 ERA. If they were going to bypass Tavarez, Corey should have been the choice. Why not carry two of the three and send Eric Gagne home where he belongs?

Unless it's desperate measures they should pitch Lester in Game 4. Wake isn't a huge loss anyways I'd much rather see Lester starting then Wake.

Bucholz was shut down for the season in September.

Not having Wake hurts, he won our only game against them in June. I just don't understand why they didn't add Tavarez and dump Gagne. Long relief could be important in this series. Tavarez pitched his ass off and helped us a lot in the regular season....management must have their reasons, but damn!

The Sox FO mustve really soured on Tavarez. He has a 2008 option year vesting at $3.85 million. With him not even making the ALDS' date=' I understand Gordon Edes's belief that they will not pick that option up[/quote']

I am of the opinion that Tavarez is either hurt or fatigued from his workload this season.

And Edes is full of s***. Tavarez will be in the pen for the Sox next season.

Another positive - hopefully Belli does not leave dug-out during the entire series.

I agree. I don't understand why he even made the roster given Wake is out.

Well - we do need a backup catcher for the series. And it's not like the other guy Cash is any better than Belli in offence. May be he runs better - but what's the use of that when none of those two can get a hit.

I have confidence in Lester throwing in Game 4. He pitched much better in Game 4, than in his horrible Game 2 outing.

Wake appears to finally be showing signs of his age.

The past 2 seasons has seen him with a bad back at the end. If this isnt his last season, next year is looking like such

I am not happy that he is injured but Tito planned to pitch him in game 2 and Curt in game 4. We could have lost both those games.

If Lester can pitch well - this might work out well for us.
