No thread for it yet so I suppose I'll start it.

Starting Pitchers

Josh Fogg (Colorado)

Livan Hernandez (Diamondbacks)

Scouting Report:

D-backs: Hernandez started, and won, the NLDS-clincher in Game 3 against the Cubs. It can be nerve-racking to watch Hernandez pitch at times because he has a tendency to pitch his way into and then out of trouble. He works the corners with his pitches and rather than give into hitters he would rather walk them, which explains his high walk total. His start against the Cubs was no exception, as he put 11 baserunners on in six innings, but just one of them came around to score. The biggest jam he pitched out of was when he walked the bases loaded with one out in the fifth. But he got out of it when Mark DeRosa grounded into an inning-ending double play. Hernandez has postseason experience with the Marlins in 1997 and the Giants in 2000 and 2002. He's best remembered for his work in the 1997 playoffs when as a rookie he was named Most Valuable Player of both the NLCS and World Series, going a combined 4-0 in those series.

Rockies: The Rockies could have activated Aaron Cook, out since Aug. 10 with an oblique strain, but decided that putting the dependable Fogg into the rotation was their best course. Rather than have Franklin Morales, a rookie, follow Ubaldo Jimenez and start Game 3 in front of a raucous hometown crowd, the Rockies chose Fogg. It was Fogg who rescued Morales in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Phillies and earned a relief win. Fogg is 6-1 with a 3.71 ERA in his career against the Diamondbacks.

The TBS dudes started going off on the whole Josh Fogg "dragon slayer" bit. I don't understand how that at all warrants a nickname. It doesn't matter who the opposing pitcher is, it matters how good the lineup is.

Anyways, the NLCS has had substantially better baseball than the ALCS thus far IMO. In the ALCS there was one very exciting game and one blowout. In the NL, there has been one very exciting game, a solid game, and another very good game tonight. Too bad nobody's watching...

I've been watching since the first pitch. Baseball is f***in' baseball. I'll watch any game that's on. It's just better when the Sox play.

but how can you watch all that baseball when you have a full slate of games in the PCL?

You love beating a dead horse don't you?

Well hey, look on the bright side, you can watch more games now that the Yankees got taken out by an underdog team in the division playoffs.

I'm pretty sure he'd be watching the same amount of games whether or not the Yankees were still playing.

Just sayin'...

For the record, Jacko, if he pulls the Sandy Alomar thing off (which I think he can...for whatever reason), people will view his situation differently.

It's just a nickname his teammates gave him and I doubt they're all that serious about it. I read an article about it once and the best part was where it said when he's pitching against a guy like Peavy or one of these good guys they've mentioned, Tulo likes to remind him that the other guy's better and that Fogg can't beat them.

What more can be said about this Rockies team? Absolutely incredible what they've managed to do.

The autographed card is already on it's way back from New York... so I was told. :dunno:

Holy crap man the Rockies are one win away from the World Series I can't believe that man. That team has some really deadly pitching. These guys have really come out and shocked the world I'm sure it's safe to say the Rockies are into the World Series.

I mean the casual fan. The casual fan is much more inclined to see a name they've heard of and stick with watching that game than a game like Rox-DBacks.

I wouldn't go that far yet. Arizona IMO is very overated , their not that great and I still cant beleive they got this far .

Arizona scored 712 runs wich was good for 26 in MLB and actually allowed more runs against them 732

their offense sucks , they dont even have a 300 hitter , or someone with 100 RBI's .

and besides webb their starting pitching isnt that great.

Their bullpen is fantastic.

They are an anomaly, for sure, but they deserve to be where they are.
