I didn't see last night, but I don't see how you can say they "played like crap" in the Yankee series. Two pitchers peformed poorly in one game, and one starter was left in too long in the other. That was about it. If anyone played poorly it was the Yankees. They were completely asleep through 7 on Friday and rolled over on Saturday, but because of the pop in in their lineup they got away with it.

The Sox have played steady as she goes .600 baseball since the break. Meanwhile the Septic Tanks have had stretches of 8-2 followed by 2-8. I expect them to continue in the .600 to .650 range the next two weeks (8-4 from here out sounds about right), and play about that pace when they get into the post season.

You need to re-read my earlier posts because you're misunderstanding me...better yet, here is what I said:

Let's say the Sox win the division, going 6-5 the rest of the way, while the Yanks go 9-3 and finish one game back. Does that make anyone here comfortable going into the PS?

and

But did anyone ever hear a player or coach say "We limped into the playoffs and played like crap the last two weeks, so I think that makes us a confident team????"

I did not say they played like crap I said I want them to go in playing well...we're talking future, Banned, next 11 games, and I want to see the Sox play well over that span so they enter the post-season with some momentum.

I guess I don't see the evidence for them going 6-5 in the next 11, when the only series they lost in the last month were a random one at TB and to NYY. So going with the trends, I foresee at most three more losses - one in each remaining series after this - and a record over the last 2 weeks of 8-4. I don't see that as limping but rather playing the way they've been playing all along.

I understand your point about the hypo, but I don't see the background facts supporting that scenario.

I only hope we win the division so we get that extra home game. Talent-wise, the Guardians are superior in my mind, but the Angels have our number. However, with Shields non-existant and them having no lefties, coupled with the fact that the Yankees are very poor against lefties and the Guardians have Sabathia and Carmona, I really have zero preference of who we face. I just want game five at home if we can get it.

One more time...not implying at all that they are playing badly...just saying OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS I WOULD LIKE THEM TO PLAY WELL and go into the PS on a roll.
