Mild irritation? My god, what has become of the national past time. Carl Furrillo and other players of that time used to work on the docks in the off-season.

(per Peter Abraham's blog)

Roger Clemens just told us that his season is not over and his elbow problem can be treated.

He is headed for Houston tomorrow to be examined by his own doctors and to receive a cortisone shot. He will definitely miss his next start. What happens beyond that is uncertain at this point, but Clemens said several times he will pitch again this season.

We haven’t had a chance to speak to Joe Torre or Brian Cashman, so the information is incomplete at this point. But as of now, that’s what is known.

More to come later.

Olney said it's "not extremely serious" but the season is in jeopardy on OTL this afternoon.

Yeah, I heard the same thing.

With or without Clemens the rotation is full of big question marks.

Clemens said he has ligament damage and has some hemorrhage in his forearm. If that is true, then the cortisone shot is simply there to dull the pain and his elbow is a ticking time bomb. This will be his last season in the majors, because he needs TJ.

what did you expect??

just because cashman pays him 28,000,000.00 doesnt make him immortal

and you real yankee fans know you dont want this guy to pitch next month

he'll get ko'd in the 2nd inning in anaheim and start grabbing his elbow or his shoulder or his vagina or his hammy and waddle off into the good night as tim mccarver comments on his valor and compares him to an ancient warrior.

I am still so furious that we lost the game to Clemens last time in the Yankee stadium.I was in the stadium that night - no way we should have let him escape with the win.

no. he needs a pair of balls.

fkn guy mighta gone down as THE GREATEST pitcher of all time (in some folks books) if not for his propensity to gag on it in the clutch as the latest injury arises.

You do realize that Clemens has a 2.37 ERA in 8 WS starts right?

and that his overall postseason numbers are 12-8 3.66 ERA 1.20 WHIP 7.88 K/9

He hasn't been the greatest but his postseason numbers have been pretty good.

Rumor has it that Raja plans to raid J.D. Drew's locker before the game and steal his vagisil.

Yes I do realize this, I looked up his stats too.

-You do recall The Blister of '86? (Mets-Sox WS)

-The Sweep of 1988? (The Sox ACE comes up short again)

-The Ejection of 1990? (Pitching poorly against the A's he blames the ump and gets tossed)

-The Pounding of 2003 (Game 7 of the ALCS, the "warrior" lasts 3 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and has his ass bailed out by Mike Mussina...with an assist from Grady Little)

-The Hammering of 2004? (Loses Game 7 of the NLCS vs. St. Louis)

-The Hammy of 2005? (lasts 2 innings in his WS start)

I know what his numbers look like.

I also know he is NOT the guy you want on the mound in a must win situation.
