:D you'll have to forgive me if I doubt your show of concern for my team

I'm not concerned with your team, i just don't think it was needed because of what could happen down the road. Beckett could throw at jeter or arod (and he probably won't miss) and then the yanks retaliate, ect....i would rather not have the chance of injuries, but play baseball.

I guess i shouldn't be surprised that you are condoning this based on pedro hitting jeter' date=' ect... typical yankee bias overriding common sense[/quote']

what am I condoning? your statement was that beckett's crazy enough to hit Jeter, i replied that big deal everyone's hit Jeter, so it wouldn't be different if Beckett hit him as well. I don't see any condoning. I stated earlier that if it was intentional, he should be given a sound thrashing.

Didnt you just say that Joba has great control? So if he was aiming for the head' date=' wouldn't he have hit it and not miss it as you imply here? ;)[/quote']

Pay attention. I said Joba was sending a message...i don't think he wanted to hit and injure Youk. Beckett could throw at someone's head, with the intention of hitting it...and probably won't miss. I would rather that not happen, so i wish Joba hadn't done that.

Wouldn't that be kind of stupid to hit someone in the noggin for a non hit?

Heres a better way to retaliate for blatant and intentional pitches, just throw your bat at the pitcher during a swing. I've seen plenty of batters lose the bat during a swing. Trust me it won't be as dangerous as a 100MPH ball to the head.

Sorry poor choice of words on my part....i meant i shouldn't be surprised that your making excuses for Joba. There have been a ton of yank fans calling WEEI yesterday and today with the ' he just lost control for 2 pitches' lines...really pathetic.

Sorry for the confusion...the bottom line is I would rather have them play baseball and this was not needed becuase we all know it will be continued at Fenway.

I agree, I would rather see that.....and that way it's at the pitcher you are pissed at.

I like that the seed has been planted. If Beckett goes up and in on ARod or Jeter' date=' I[b'] would love to see the Papi Joba matchup later in the game.[/b]

You just pee all over yourself at the thought of anyone trying to drill Papi don't you?

It's not gonna happen.

classic example of not being able to get a taste for your own medicine. Suck it up.

It wont happen so long as the sox dont try and reignite this thing. I would love for us to drill Papi, absolutely. Mostly because our best players always seem to be targets when we face you guys, the tables should get turned at some point.

Not accepting what the chubby bunny did as part of the game is pretty ridiculous. While he did buzz the tower, and while I'm going on what I've heard not seen, Youk's head was never really threatened. If that's all that happened, then so be it. That said, the contingent of Yankee fans saying it didn't warrant an ejection are equally ridiculous. Even if he wasn't close to getting hit in the head, it was hard cheese intentionally thrown in that area. When it's two in a row, then it's hit the showers tubby.

I was one of the one's questioning his command. He doesn't have command, but his low walk total suggests some control, at least enough to not miss by that much twice in a row. Be real, it was intentional, and the ump's decision was the right one.

As for the rest, I think the intent on the first pitch was to bust him high and tight off the plate since Youk is as bad as Jeter when it comes to crowding the inside. I can see why people would think there was intent in the second pitch, but definetely not in the first pitch. In any case, Youkilis said it best, only Joba knows if there was any intent or not. I think Torre will definetely address the second pitch with Joba though.

Francona's comments just struck me as sort of juvenile. Obviously he was hinting at something. BTW If any Yankee players called Pedro or whoever was the headhunter du jour on the Sox a "f'n cu*t", I'm pretty sure RSN would have been all over that.

I agree he was probably trying to back Youk off because Youk does tend to dive in, a la Jeter. That's why I don't see why some Yankee fans get worked up by Jeter getting brushed back...and I don't have an issue with Youk beiong backed off.

But to claim that two pitches in a row "slipped" is pretty lame, no? My point was to step up and say I was trying to pitch him in...if you wanna say it got away a little bit, do so, but don't expect anyone to believe you were trying to throw a strike when two pitches ended up over Youk's head.

As I mentioned ealier, if I recall, Francona was answering a question within the context it was asked...it was not some off-the-cuff remark...it was solicited and he responded without saying that the kid threw at Youk but to say if he was trying to get our attention, it worked...simple as that. You all are reading way more into it than necessary.

And as far as the "c" issue? Please, I'm sure Pedro and other Sox pitchers have been called names like that or worse...this sport has been around a long, long time, I doubt the "c" word was used for the first time in this particular game and I doubt it's the worst thing ever said.

In fact the more I think about folks being upset about it, the more it makes me laugh...whaddya all want Beckett suspended??? It's fkn silly I tell ya, silly.

Beckett is "crazy enough"? 1. Chamberlain throws harder. 2. Chamberlain just did go for the dome twice. If Beckett wants to play that game' date=' then I would assume Papi would be eating his teeth for dinner after the next series. The sox whining about this is hilarious after how many yrs of them throwing at our guys. How's the taste of your own medicine?[/quote']

This is done. Nothing will happen. Beckett and Matsuzaka hit people, and hard. So do Clemens and Chamberlain. MAD [mutual assured destruction] wins out. This dies, because the Yankees are showing that if you hit us, you get hit. End of story, and it is a non-story now.

The only way he hits Youk is if Youk jumps up trying to head the pitch, ala soccer. I agree. You go up there twice, it's time for the Irish Spring. I completely agree, for once, with ORS on this point.

Jacko, you read the same thing I read from the NY Post. I will admit, I'm a little jaded, I'm not a Hughes fan. If this guy turns it on, then yes, I will love him. So far, his clippings are a shitload better than his arm.

P.S. If Chamberlain is tubby, then Schilling is an orca. I LOVE IT!

So long as we are ready to accept the repercussions' date=' then I am fine with it. But now that we have a lightning armed assassin out there, your pitchers may be less likely to retaliate.[/quote']

You actually think Beckett is going to be scare by a rookie and not defend his players? Not only that, I find it funny you act as if the Sox are banned from retaliation against the Yankees.

I think youre sig should be of Tony C after he was beaned in the eye

Scenario 1. Beckett several innings in with a substantive lead hits Damon on the shoulder after throwing the previous pitch inside. Both dugouts are warmed. The veteran Joba Chamberlain comes in and to your 100% delight he rotates his arm back, eyes fixed, and hurls a 99 mph heater... crack! The Fenway Faithful stand up as Papi is hit on the side of the head. The helmet is thown off all the way to the back stop. Amidst the bench clearing the trainer comes to his aid. A stretcher is needed to bring him out to the ambulance. Sox fans stand and clap for their hero getting carted off the field, while select Yankee fans are clapping for a totally differnt reason.

You are for pitchers aiming for the noggin (especially Sox batters) but dont fully realize how serious it can be if the batter doesnt move quikcly, or maybe you do. If thats the case you are one sick messed up human being
