BTW' date=' if the Sox win 2/3 and then play .500 ball the rest of the way, the Yanks need to run the table....to tie.[/quote']

I may be in the minority among the Yankee fans, but I just want to get into the playoffs. On top of that (I know I'm in the minority here), I'm not giving the wild card to the Yankees at this point. The Red Sox are not my number one concern in these last two weeks. However, the Tigers are.

I continue to be right on the mark with the Sawx, Yanks still ahead of pace, but dreams of division close to death.

Red Sox:

Predicted - 90-60

Actual - 90-60 (even)

Yankees:

Predicted - 82-67

Actual - 85-64 (+3)

Sox on the road in Toronto. Decent chance to gain some ground on my metric, as we miss Halladay but we do get Burnett. Tomorrow's game is key, I feel. Wake in a dome against a decent pitcher in McGowan, if we win that I feel real good about the series.

Yanks at home against the hapless O's. Is it too much for the O's to take one game? Cabrera vs. Hughes tomorrow may be their best shot.

These three games for the Yanks might be a chance to gain some ground on Detroit, because they're facing the Guardians (in CLE).

Tonight should be an interesting matchup. Hughes has pitched well in his last two starts, while Cabrera has not. The Yankee hitters just need to make Cabrera throw the ball in the strikezone and they should be just fine.

Tuesday could also be anyone's game. Although Mussina is coming off a good start, he's going to be working on regular rest, and I expect him to be roughed up. The Yankees are facing Jon Leicester who is 2-1 with a 6.32 ERA this season. However he has had two very good starts so far this month.

Wednesday should be a win for the Yanks. Pettitte is coming off a poor start against the Red Sox, but I expect him to rebound nicely at home against the O's.

The Yankees really get a nice break with Bedard and Guthrie being gone for the season.

I didn't update after the last series.

Red Sox

Predicted - 93-63

Actual - 92-64 (-1)

The sweep in Toronto stings, but there is chance to make up the ground lost this week. The Sox miss Haren and Santana, 4 wins out of 6 is not out of the question.

Yankees

Predicted - 87-69

Actual - 90-66 (+3)

Barring a collapse of monumental proportions, the Yankees will exceed my projections for them. I expect 4-2 over the last 6 games (revised from my prior 3-3 prediction, thanks to the s***** team Baltimore is fielding right now).

94 wins from where they were is a complete success.
