Chris Basak called up per yankees.com

YES!!! This likely spells the end of Igawa in the Bronx for this season. Igawa has to be considered a huge disappointment right now and a huge enigma. He has an average heater and 2 plus off speed pitches. But he has minus control and minus minus composure and I have a feeling that is going to do him in. This has to be considered one of the biggest wastes of money in baseball history (in addition to another shitbag, Carl pavano).

There goes your prediction of him being a solid 4th starter and inning eater. 200 innings or more didnt you say?

As Ive been saying since they signed him, it was a reactionary move to the Sox getting Dice-K

Sounds to me like another Kaz Ishii. How many years is he locked in for?

Ishii had trouble finding the plate at all. Igawa does have control issues, but his control issues are in the zone for the most part. He is a guy with an 88-90 mph fastball who thinks his fastball is 99-100. Everything is letters high.

Kenji Johjima and Ichiro both expressed pleasant surprise in the clubhouse after overhearing a TV report about the Mariners' rumored trade interest in Yankees pitcher Kei Igawa, who is also Japanese.

SAFECO Field as Igawa's home might be a better fit, one of Seattle's fine young relievers could be had for him I imagine

DONT TRADE HIM FOR NOTHING. This is the kind of guy who we deal and then becomes something good. He has solid stuff, I dont want to cut bait and watch him have a season like Contreras had when he first left. Right now I hate the guy. But if we deal him for nothing, then we may regret it.

I know that. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with this guy. On one hand I look at the stuff and say, man, if he can harness that from the left hand side and locate it, he could be a very solid pitcher. The other side of me is saying that I really dont want to endure watching him try and harness it and get shitcanned in the process. Lets just put it this way. I am pretty sure that he wont harness it here. I am also pretty sure that if we deal him, he will harness it and we will look like fools. Hence, I am okay with dealing him, so long as we get something for him. Because if all we get is what we got for Contreras (3 months of a s***** pitcher) then I wont be too pleased when he is dominating the ALW and you guys are tossing it in our faces.

I very much appreciate your honesty jacksonian. The Yankees must deal him for what he is worth-- he is a young-ish lefty with pretty good stuff. He hasn't harnessed it consistently here, but he has a fair amount of that "unknown" quality left to him. The Yankees should offer him and a fair amount of his salary for a few decent prospects or a solid veteran early innings reliever. They won't get too much "now impact" for him, but they could get something decent if they play their cards right. Sending him to AAA in the hopes that he puts up some impressive numbers is one way to play it, and it seems like a pretty good move. He's of little use to the 25-man roster.

Huh? He's not flip flopping; he's said the same thing the whole time. He never doubted his stuff. He doubted his control, which is what you highlighted when you tried to show his flip flop. There was no flip flop. He said he has good stuff, but lacks control. If I remember correctly, he's said the same thing over and over again. I don't see the flip flop.
