Where is Scaffolds?

Anyway, I don't recall seeing a post from our favorite L/A prospect guru in a long time. Is he still around this site? Miss his insight to the goings on in the D.R. as it relates to our prospects.

some of scaffolds opinons were questioned on the board by myself and other posters. He considers posting here to be a service, and as a condition of that service, people who don't know baseball are not allowed to question his opinions on anything baseball related, no matter how outlandish they are.

 

In his opinion, there are guys in AAA who could put up the same numbers as Youkilis. I personally find this opinion ridiculous, and if he doesn't want to be called on stuff like that, best of luck to him.

Scaffolds was around like 2 weeks ago. He produces useful posts and things that I find interesting.

Saying that there are guys in AAA who could be just as good as Youkilis, is just plain wrong. Calling you on this isn't a "crush", its just a statement of fact. One that I think most posters with I think most posters would completely agree.

 

It does appear that open mindedness only extends to other people not just yourself. You can't accept that OBP is an important stat, maybe the most important. If you can't accept that, then you are just as close minded as a dinosaur.

 

For the record, I do find Scaffolds reports on the more obscure prospects interesting. But if the price to pay for that, is that we aren't allowed to call him on his refusal to admit that he was wrong about Youkilis, Pedroia, and probably Lowrie, then don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I see you calling him on things right now. There it is. You wrote it, it stayed on the board. I don't know anything about scaffolds views on players and don't much care. I like that he takes the time to keep the board informed about more obscure/lower level specs. I don't think he's god, I don't think he's knows everything, but I can tell that he doesn't mind spending the time when nobody else does and I appreciate that.

 

What you're wishing for is for Scaffolds to admit that he was wrong... his unwillingness to do so is not a 'price' you are paying. Who cares!?! a700 doesn't have a very high opinion of Youkilis either... and this season hasn't changed his tune. Some people are stubborn.

If someone calls him on a statement that he makes, he goes off on the person, and thus giving us the sentiment that he has a "holier than thou" sentiment because of his scout experience.

 

I think what made people frustrated with scaffolds is when he said that Youkilis has been just as valuable to us as Lugo has throughout the first half of the season. This isn't a matter of opinion, it's just flat out wrong. Consequently, people assumed that scaffolds was trying to justify his opinion of Youkilis as a bench player by showing his similarities to Lugo and concluding that they were both just as effective as the other for us during the first half. Like I said, he can have his opinion of Youkilis, but when we call him on making a false statement (like the Youk-Lugo comparison example), it's expected that he'll address it instead of telling us that it's a service that he posts here and we should listen to him instead of questioning him.

 

Now, all that said, personally I like scaffolds and I think he brings interesting topics to the table. What I typed above was not my personal view on scaffolds, but rather what I've taken as RobZombie's beef with scaffolds to be.

The first bolded part sounds like 'address it' is supposed to be admitted he was wrong (because you're right, the argument that Youkilis has been as bad as Lugo overall is wrong--that's what I was referring to above as well.) The only logical way to 'address it' is to admit defeat.

 

The second bolded part was also my point above. I just choose to ignore anything about his posting being a "service" and take it for what it is. Nobody is forced to come on here and state their opinion or stats. If he's here it should be because he wants to be, not because he feels pity for us.

Fair enough. I guess I don't exactly know what's expected of him addressing the Youk-Lugo comparison, but I guess a response other than "my posting here is a service" is what's being looked for...whatever that may be.

 

Overall, you're right. Who cares? Let him post his thoughts. Some we'll agree with, some we won't, and if you really don't like him to an extent, just ignore him. Ah, peace.

If you do, most fans are going to call you on it. Anyone who can't take being called on a statement such as this shouldn't be posting on a message board.

 

Its really sad because its possible that Scaff has a point about the Latin prospects not getting a fair shake. God knows the Sox haven't been that successful in developing them. But unfortunately when you say that a guy like Kevin Youkilis is no good, it clouds any other opinons you might have.

scaffolds is a fraud. Don't bother reading the BS that he posts on a consistent basis (unless of course you are looking for a good laugh!).
