  1. He also reportedly hit 97-98 mph on the Lowell radar gun. Even if the gun is 1-2 mph fast, that still means he was hitting mid 90's with his fastball while pitching multiple inning. As a lefty. If Hagadone can improve upon his changeup--which supposedly has the potential to become a plus pitch--to go along with his fastball (which he spots pretty well) and his already plus slider then we could be talking about a special special prospect. While he has a loonnggg way to go, the upside of Hagadone--whether it be as a starter or reliever--is looking terrific right about now.
  2. The Red Sox have signed LHP Israel Perez and infielder Lewis Urena, both of whom are from the Dominican Republic. Scouting reports to come.
  3. I don't care what his rankings criteria is. Placing Still at #53 is indefensible (and I'm not a Still fan in the least bit, and think he is overranked on soxprospects.com).
  4. Still is one of the better power hitting prospects in the Red Sox organization. Whether he has a definitive defensive position at this point in his career or not, it's a joke that he is ranked as low as he is. And there is zero reason why Adam Mills should AT LEAST be in the top 60...NOT in the 90's! I'm the last person to question individuals' personal rankings, but some of the rankings of a few specific prospects are...to say it nicely...a little weird.
  5. Remy needs to grow a pair and go out to the bleachers himself to ask the girl why she is at the game alone.

  7. I only have two big problems with that list: 1. Kris Johnson should be higher. 2. I have trouble putting a guy like Almanzar in the top 10 until more people get to see him play and we can get a better scouting report on him. But I guess that is just a differing in philosophies, as I have more of a wait-and-see approach with International free agents.
  8. I'm not saying he's an elite pitching prospect in all of baseball (ala Buchholz), but he's certainly one of the elite pitching prospects in the Red Sox system. I was all for making the trade to acquire Jermaine Dye (moreso than Gagne), but it just wasn't worth it at the price of TWO of Masterson, Delcarmen, and Hasen. It's just my opinion, but I have a hard time giving up multiple good young arms for a rental unless the team is absolutely desperate in that area (ex: if there was an injury). And how is Masterson 4 years away? Do your homework buddy.
  9. Cut the crap. Masterson is an elite pitching prospect regardless of the fact that he has had TWO--yes, I know two poor performances in a row is unheard of for a prospect--poor starts in a row. Giving up a talent such as Masterson should not be done for a rental...especially since one of Hansen or Delcarmen reportedly would have had to have been involved in the deal as well. Oh, and I'm guessing there's a decent chance that an injury had something to do with it.
  10. My thoughts about trading Beltre: Who cares? There are two major reasons why it would be beneficial to sign some of these high upside international free agents: 1. Attempt to develop these guys and hope that one of them will pan out and become a very good-great player. 2. To use in a trade. Beltre certainly has the tools the be a special player at the professional player (as was indicated by the contract he signed), but I'm not going to lose any sleep over him being dealt to the Rangers. Nor will I lose sleep if he pans out and becomes an above average major leaguer. The fact of the matter is that there is a significantly better chance that these guys flame out than actully develop.
  11. scaffolds is a fraud. Don't bother reading the BS that he posts on a consistent basis (unless of course you are looking for a good laugh!).
