Eh' date=' I don't think it was the right call, I just think Tito got extremely lucky.[/quote']

I don't think I would call it extremely lucky. I would call it lucky. Extremely lucky is Dave Roberts' stolen base as the catalyst to a 4 game run to come back from 3-0. timlin being able to get through an inning + without damage against Major League hitters is nothing odd for his career norms. It is rare only in the very recent past

Fair enough. But the point is...there was still a lot of luck involved in us still playing this game. This game probably should have been over twice by now.

Yes. And there was a significant measure of luck involved.

How can you look at that as an inherently bad thing though? Baseball is a game of probabilities. As you know, a guy who gets on-base 40% of the time is a special player, and there are many different ways to get on base, let alone score runs, make outs, etc.,

baseball is a game absolutely filled with luck. The weather is luck, a bounce is luck, the particular umpire's strike zone is luck, a bad call is luck, the list goes on and on. There is always a significant measure of luck involved.

I look at it as a bad thing because I'm afraid Tito will continue to go to Timlin in big spots, and that the results would not be good. You said it yourself, these things tend to even out and Timlin was really fortunate to now allow a run.

I would much rather Tito uses his best pitchers in the most important spots.

Who was it that said: "Luck is the residue of design."

Only if you look from the Red Sox side of thing. Look who the tigers have been throwing out there. Is it Joel Zumaya? No, it's Jason Grilli. Our lineup could have won this game already.

It's going to be a lot worse tomorrow too. The bats are going to be slow as hell after tonight's game.

Is good for Dice-K, no?

Yeah... but we also could have thrown Donnelly out there instead of Timlin.

 We could go on about this forever.

Is he off the DL?

We could go on about this forever. Let's. Where were we? Just kidding.

Papelbon needs a GB right here.

If anything, those booos for checking on Sheffield so many times should just make papelbon more effective. He has no problem with that type of thing. I think he thrives off it.

Very good. It's bad that he probably won't get too much run support' date=' if any, tomorrow.[/quote']

So this makes things different how?
