I agree with what you just said, except the Joe Morgan part. Morgan was rated the best 2B of all time by Bill James, and the numbers don't disagree. 689 SB, a .392 career OBP, and the best stat of all: 1865 walks, and 1015 strikeouts. That's ridiculous. Now I know that some might say that a strikeout is the same as any other out in most circumstances, but the vast majority of players (without looking this up) have more K's than walks, while Morgan has almost twice as many walks and strikeouts. End tangent.

I didnt look at Morgans career like that...that is impressive. But dont you also agree that the fact we are even comparing the two suggests that Biggio is a dead lock to go in? Biggio is arguably a top 3 2B, and definately a top 5. Id say these are the best ones ever....

Joe Morgan

Jackie Robinson

Ryne Sandberg

Craig Biggio

Rogers Hornsby

Eddie Collins

Thats six guys right there, I think Biggio is one of the top 5.

I dont put Carew in that list BC he played more games at 1B than 2B even though he went in as a 2B.

I don't know why Biggio is such a shock to be a first-ballot lock and better than over half of the people in Cooperstown.

This is a man who is 14th in baseball history in runs scored, and collected 3,000 hits while being walked 1154 times and hit by a pitch 284 times.

Not even counting all of the times he was hit by a pitch, the only other players to get to 3,000 hits, 1,000 walks, and 400 stolen bases are:

Rickey Henderson

Lou Brock

Ty Cobb

Eddie Collins

Paul Molitor

Tris Speaker

...and Craig Biggio.

(only 13 of the players who have 3,000 hits have more walks than Biggio, in case I'm accused of cherrypicking.)

If the counting stats, along with the omission of his HBP's isn't impressive enough, what about his peak from 1993-1999:

.303 AVG

.397 OBA

.473 SLG

.870 OPS

122 HR'S

237 SB's

Impressive for a guy who went from catcher, to second base, and a year of centerfield to accommodate Jeff Kent.
