You can take a savvy vet in Mussina to tutor your young staff.

This is the worst trade offer I have ever seen.

You mentioned Mike Mussina, I already hung up the phone. I'm a cheap ballclub. I pillage the collective bargining agreement, by pocketing the money the richer teams send me, yet you expect me to pay $12 million annually for a declining veteran. I need young talent, who make slave wages in order to compete. I can't have an albatross like Mike Mussina on my payroll. Sorry, if I want a vet to tutor my staff, I'll find a former pro, and pay him an annual salary to give advice to my entire pitching staff. I'll name this job title a pitching coach. He only cost about $300,000 per year. Oh, I get to keep my two promising stars, as well.

How is Mike Mussina going to make my pitchers better?

"Throw strikes on the corner of the strike zone."

Brilliant. Here's $12 million.

You don't need draft picks or prospects, because that's what your team is.

Yeah, on the cusp of greatness if I get a few more of those young pitcher to develop.

I have Navarro, Dukes, Upton, Brignac, Longoria, Crawford, Baldelli, Young, and Guzman in my everyday starting lineup in a year and a half. That offense alone is going to help this team compete.

The pitching staff is getting better as well. Shields, Kazmir, Sonnastine, Hammell, and Niemann are all fantastic prospects, with the first three already contributing.

You can take Giambi whom you can restructure a deal with.

No, you are going to pay ALL of his salary. I don't want an injury prone 1B, who might face a suspension for steriods. What's he make $22 million? That's almost my entire budget. Mussina and Giambi, make $10 million more than my entire team, why do I want these guys? They aren't any good anymore.

And finally one of the best Asian starters in Igawa once he learns control.

In Asia? How about the MLB? Doesn't he have like a 7.20 ERA? Wasn't he optioned to A ball? He makes more money than my entire starting rotation combined. I don't want him, either.

A For Shields and Crawford.

Wait.

You want Crawford AND Shields?

You want me to trade the ace of my rotation + my best hitter for a declining Mike Mussina, an injured Jason Giambi, and a 29 year old AAA pitcher?

I'm guessing the real reason this deal hasn't already happen is because Andrew Freidman has a higher IQ than Jason Giambi's jersey number.

Surely you can consider t this deal if you have any dillusion about being an actual ball club commited to winning games instead of hopes. Convince me not to let you put a talent to waste.

Surely, you are talking about the Yankees fielding a winning ball club. If I do this trade, the Montgomery Biscuits will be a better team then we are.

Oh, don't offer a follow up, any number coming from area code (212) has been put on block.

The trade offer is:

NYY gets:

James Shields

Carl Crawford

TB gets:

Jason Giambi

Mike Mussina

Kei Igawa

A douche (not really, but it's VORP is zero, which makes it more valuable than Kei Igawa)

No cash. (Yeah, none)

I know that guy from other boards. He's not that dumb. I'd assume he is kidding, if we're thinking about the same guy with the SN prospero.

Am I the only person that would really like to see the Devil Rays start winning? With the exception of Dukes sending his ex txts of a gun and threatening to kill her and her kids (common, like we all haven't done THAT a time or two...), they really seem like a group of likeable guys. Crawford is extremely fun to watch, Kazmir has some of the nastiest junk I've ever seen when he's on and healthy, they've got a bunch of realllllly young talent that are going to be interesting to see develop...

It'd be cool to see the ALE be more than the Sox, Yanks, and everyone else.

(Yes, I know the standings now, and how last year finished...but I still see it as a 2-horse race every single year)
