Alrighty, today we're getting this train back on track tonight. We're facing Lenny DiNardo. Lenny friggin' DiNardo. This could mean two things: 1) We demolish him like the scrub that he is, or 2) we get absolutely owned because he's a soft-tossing lefty. Let's hope it's the former. GO SOX!

Teams: Boston Red Sox (37-19) @ Oakland Athletics (29-27)

Mojo of the day:

Today I'm going to give thanks to the underappreciated guy who takes one for the team.

But she's towing an anchor

A junior investment banker

Who's talkin' 'bout herself and not much more

Oooooohhh!

So buy her a beer, it's the reason you're here

Mighty wingman,

You're taking one for the team

So your buddy can live the dream.

Wingmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

Do you watch Dice-K? He throws soft? Did I just read right?

You've seen him pitch for two months. How can you call him overrated? Let me ask you something, what did you think of Beckett last year? Was he overrated too? Did we make a horrible trade?

He's overrated cause of the hype that came with him. That being said i'm glad he's on the Redsox he's going to win 14-16 games. As for Beckett it was his first year in the AL. He shown that big games don't get to him. Was he worth Hanley Rameriz? Yes and no Yes because it's not easy to find top end of the rotation starting pitching, No cause Hanleys similar to Jose Reyes. Can't knock that trade.

I forgot that Daisuke isn't new to the AL also.

I told you before, look at his peripheral stats, and then tell me if you think they typically go with 5 era pitchers.

David Ortiz is going to go deep at least once tonight. He looks like his legs are feeling good, hitting a HR in the first inning, then missing the go-ahead HR in the 10th by a foot (400ft to straight center). I think he's going to have a big series.

He's new to America but Beckett wasn't signed for the price DK was whenever you sign a deal like that people are un reasonable with expectations. He walks too many guys but you guys are right way to early to grade him.

I think the Sox are going on a hitting spree tonight. And i'm the biggest pessimist there is.

You really are  Whatever, it goes with being a Sox fan I guess :D

Trust me, the Wingman mojo WILL come through tonight.

I still can't get over Ortiz missing the go-ahead HR by a foot. We need a win tonight to wash away the distaste of that and Arods game winning HR.

WIN, f***ERS!

Yea thats two nights in a row he just missed a tieing or winning shot. Can't stop Ortiz for too long though.

Argh! The more I think about he pitched for the Sox early last year as the 5th starter ( course this year he's been good for Oakland)... the more I just want to see the Sox beat him into submission

Hello. I also am not pleased by the outcome of last night's contest. I agree that it would be nice to take the series, but to do this we would need to win the next 3 games. While this is entirely possible, I would not be disappointed in a split. I also believe that Mr. Pedroia is having a stellar season. I shall talk to you in the near future Adam.

I remember DiNardo started the last game I saw the Sox play live in Toronto. He got shelled and I think we lost 9-1....f***ing douche. drove 5 hours for that

Drew will likely get the next 2 games off. He's been missing a good number of games since May... why not just play it safe and put him on the 15 day DL?

EDIT: For those who have nesn... is it just my tvs in the house but nesn keeps going black or freezing :( Its not satellitle, regular cable

I hope we can start to get out of this mini slide. Even with the huge lead, losing 4-5 games is not fun (especially since when the games end at 1:00 AM). I look for DiceK to do pretty well tonight against a fairly weak lineup. We just have to keep frigging Mark Ellis under control.

Is anybody eles regreting the Drew contract at this point. If we were won't doing so well like we are, he would absolutely be getting crushed by everyone right now. How can someone so damn talented look so bad at the plate?

I have thought about a lot lately, and I'm actually more excited when Willy Mo is in the lineup rather than Drew. Eventually when Drew gets hot I think Coco needs to fade slowly to the bench.

Would they bring up Brandon Moss? I would like to see what this kid can do. I think he has about 10 homeruns and 40 RBIS and is batting around .300.
