If the Sox bypass Lester and instead call up Bucholz, dont you think that would hurt his confidence?

From your posts I was thinking you wanted them to call up Bucholz right away

No, I don't, but it makes me wonder if he could possibly be ready to start next season:

Schilling

Beckett

Matsuzaka

Lester

Buchholz

I don't know where Wake goes. Perhaps if they win it all he retires??? :dunno: (knocking firmly on my 'wooden'--composite--coffee table). I also don't care too much. If Buchholz is as good as he sounded in the TB spring training game, and as good as he's been recently we're talking about Phil Hughes caliber here.

are you actually complaining right now?

Yes Jacko Im starting to fret about this team's near future  Way to exaggerate

Look this team left 9 men LOB through 5 against this kid, including 2 times with the bases loaded!... he deserved to be given a pounding treatment. Like you dont ever complain when that happens to your Yankees lineup

Can't wait to see what Jackso says about this.

Meanwhile 5-4-3 DP.

So are people still poo-pooing the notion that Pedroia was 2003 NCAA defensive player of the year?

A few plays he's made the past few nights are ones that we would have shrugged at when Loretta missed them, saying "meh, it was a really tough play" and just accepting the fact that runs would score. Pedroia is making MANY tough plays look easy.

Lol. I love small sample sizes. hahaha

I don't know a whole lot about Buchholz, but I sure as hell wouldn't compare him to Phil Hughes after one good spring training start and a 6 weeks into the season...

He goes to the starting rotation. I honestly think he has a permanent spot until he retires. If he comes back next year then he goes to the rotation. Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz may have a bright future but they are not Tim Wakefield at this point in their careers.

And it's not like he ages. The guy could go for another 3 years.

Its not as far fetched as you may think. Once more publications and rankings come out with updates you may think otherwise. I can't imagine they don't place Buchholz outside of the top 10....maybe top 15. He might be the best pitching prospect in AA.

I can. :D

Hughes is one of the better prospects in a few years as a pitcher. Hes got command and stuff and size and all of that good stuff. Buchholz has skyrocketed, especially given that he has only really been pitching for a few years. 117 K to 29 BB in Greenville last year, 23 K to 4 BB in Wilmington, 46 K and 4 BB this season with Portland in 34 IP. It is hard to know how high Buchholz's ceiling is, but he also supposedly runs about as fast as Jacoby Ellsbury. f***ing a!

I mostly agree, but are you willing to not address a 2nd catcher for 3 more years? Wakefield takes up two positions on a 25 man roster.

Thats is a cause for concern...but Mirabelli has been serviceable for us and doesn't play that often....I bet he could hold up a few more seasons if Wakefield decided. I just know that if Wakefield wants to stay...he will be in the rotation
