There is no legitimate reason why this makes sense.

 

They should have at least waited to see what happened with the lottery...if Oden actually ends up coming here, the greatest available coaches will be popping up from everywhere hoping to have the oppurtunity to coach him. It's either Danny is a complete moron or Doc has some sort of control over him. Doc was whining about how he didn't want to be just hanging there like a lame duck without a contract future so he pushed for an extension recently. I really have no idea why Danny would let him run the franchise like that and back down to him by giving him the job before the lottery/draft. Maybe they feel that this guy is the best coach and the best option for this team or maybe they're just cheap...I have no idea, this extension makes zero sense to me but hopefully we look back on this and realize that it was the right choice.

Not really. Hell, the "greatest" or most well known coach that Lebron James has ever had at the pro level was Paul Silas, and he's a sub-.500 coach. And Lebron was a much more touted player than Oden is.

I don't know the history behind the Celtics and their drafts, but if I was saying it was the biggest day of my life I know I'd have a dissapointment coming, because in short-term the Suns seem to be boring on draft day.

 

But after I calm down from my screaming and ranting, I realize what they do is normally for the best. (I'm LOVING the Nate Robinson Q-Rich for Kurt Thomas trade right now )

If we end up with Durant or Oden, I really hope Rivers isn't an ******* by using his philosophy with young players. He better not keep them on the bench because of a defensive mistake or because Scalabrine has been playing well in "practice". Management surely wouldn't allow this but Doc has been known to show his rookie benching ways in frustrating times.
