HUGE win for the Sox. Ugly weather, ugly start by Daisuke, they battled and battled and were the superior team.

Thanks Manny, that's what your check is good for.

Sox win!! A lot of their wins recently have been come from behind ones

Romero stepped it up big to notch this save. the star of the game was Manny with his 2 HRs, 3 RBIs. I hope Papelbon is ok

Now onto Minnesota

We face Carlos Silva tomorrow' date=' so let the offense continue. And Sunday too against Ponson. No comment on Saturday.[/quote']

Tavarez vs Santana? Well, thus far, the sox have won 2 of 3 in which Tavarez goes against an opposing ace. I wouldnt give up just yet.

I'm also pretty sure that the lineup he'll be facing this time out is the weakest of the 3 teams that will have thrown out their aces against him by the end of Saturday's game (New York, Toronto and Minnesota). Hopefully he can take advantage of that and just keep the Sox close. Santana seems to start out slowly anyway, so hopefully he hasn't settled into his groove yet.

I hope DiceK will locate the entire game and not have any mental lapses like in previous starts. If he keeps it together mentally he will be dominant. I predict Manny having 2 homers tonight and the sox will win 6-2. I am a little concerned with J.D., I hope he feels better soon and he hits like he did to start the season. People have said he is a streaky hitter and he has definitely shown that thus far.

Another point I have is that Francona better not burn Okajima out early in the season. He has pitched incredibly well so far, but Terry rolls him out there night after night. Let's hope others step up so the good guys can stay fresh.

EDIT* Oh, you jumped ship too early, no prop.

not sure. Toronto without Glaus or Johnson is just as bad as the Twins full strength. Dont forget the M&M boys in Minny.

bullpen will be used a lot today' date=' yanks about to gain 1.5 games on Boston[/quote']

LOL

Can somebody tell me why we have Julio Lugo? He isn't that good of a hitter to make up for for his horrible defense. This game is allready over.

LOL

Don't people know no lead is ever safe at Fenway?

I'm going to read through the thread now. Should be high comedy.

Ok, so DiceK's got some issues. But the Sox won. Lets leave his pitching problems to the experts and hope for better returns next time out. His ERA's aleady f***ed, so lay off the guy for a start or two. I'm sure he'll be better. I am 100% confident in this.

After the first, he was good.

I didn't forget about them. In fact, I'll add Cuddyer in there, he's not too shabby either.

Actually...I retract my statement. They have at least 4 forces in that lineup with Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, and Hunter (who seems to be ripping the cover off the ball lately...contract year I guess). They're not the strongest bunch overall, but they can get the job done. I still think Hill/Overbay/Wells/Thomas is a better overall group than the Twins'.

Whatever, the point is that the Twins aren't as weak as I thought they were. They can get on base and cause lots of problems. If we can get around Mauer, Morneau and Hunter we'll be fine. They don't really have anyone to pick them up.

Castillo isnt too bad' date=' and Punto is a pest. They are up and coming, and if Bartlett or Kubel reach potential, they will be tough to get through.[/quote']

Agreed 100%. I think we can both agree that I vastly under-evaluated them.

I have zero issue with Papelbon getting another night off. He threw almost 40 pitches the other night and looked really off.

Nice win, especially since we threw the dregs of the bullpen (sans Piniero). Nice job in particular JC Romero.

Nice win last night. I have to say I really didn't expect it basically because over the last four years it seems like we can't hit soft tossing lefties. Props to Manny, who as usual begins his season in May. I really love it how he threw his helmet off like Ortiz does when he hits a walk off homerun, that entire sequence was classic Manny, you cringe because he makes himself look like a total fool, but we love it because he is probably the greatest right handed hitter in team history. I am still really concerned about DiceK, he really needs to have a good outting next time. I don't know what it is but he just has trouble pitching out of the stretch. 18-9 is pretty damn good, and with the prospect that DiceK can only get better (I hope), and Manny has finally checked in, things look pretty good right now and I apologize for being a negative ass at the begining of the game.
