Damn roto is right. The Braves trade away their starting left fielder and they just got player to be named or cash considerations?

rotoworld

Athletics acquired outfielder Ryan Langerhans from the Braves for a player to be named or cash considerations.

It's odd that the Braves would just give up their primary left fielder for nothing, even if Langerhans was hitting .068 in 44 at-bats. The A's get themselves a fine fourth outfielder capable of playing an above average center field. It's not going to make a lot of sense to use him regularly if Nick Swisher can return this week, but he is decent insurance.

Langerhans was just traded to Washington for Chris Snelling. No lie.

Hey your right, I thought you were joking since the As just got Langerhans but it's true...

Rotoworld

Athletics acquired outfielder Chris Snelling from the Nationals for outfielder Ryan Langerhans.

While this is a great job of trading up from the A's, it seems like Billy Beane might want to start valuing durability in outfielders at some point. Fortunately, the A's shouldn't need Snelling as a regular. He can play left field on occasion and fake it in center as well as Danny Putnam if needed. He's also nice insurance at DH with Mike Piazza down. Snelling was hitting .204/.361/.327 in 49 at-bats for the Nats. He might have a little value in AL-only leagues, though his skill set doesn't translate so well to fantasy baseball. May. 2 - 10:57 pm et

Actually, no. The A's didn't really want Langerhans, they wanted Snelling all along. The Braves didn't want to trade within their division, instead they traded him to Oakland. Oakland then dealt him to Washington for their guy. Kind of like a 3 way trade.
