The knuckleball is like a ghost-pitch. You think you see it, you swing at it with confidence, but there's nothing there. So, the pitcher with the ghost-pitch gets the Ghost Train, right? I'm glad you agee.

Tim "Ghost Train" Wakefield

vs.

Jeff "Juggs" Karstens

Winning is good. Let's do that, and lest we forget..........

This shall rule the day.

Jeff Karstens to save the bullpen today against these hot Sox bats?

Posted

You know how excellent it would be if we tagged Karstens for like 5 runs in the first inning. The Yankees need him to go deep into the game today, but if he pitched the way he did on saturday, then the Yankees will be rolling out the bullpen yet again today.

Manny Mojo anyone?

Proctor has gone into 2 games in a row, I doubt hes available, they don't have much of a BP left, they need 7 innings out of Kartsenes and I dont see that happening, tonight could be one of those 12-10 games...

Go Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to start driving the ball.

Josh Phelps, 8 for 25 (.320 avg) Double, 3 RBIs, 2 Walks, 7 Ks

2 to 1 Joe still starts Doug Mientkiewicz (probably in the cleanup spot.)

Well you are right about Phelps not being in the lineup today

New York Post

As for himself, Torre said that there was not much he could do. He will use Giambi at first base today, shifting Damon to designated hitter and starting Melky Cabrera in center field. Only in rare cases does Torre rage at his players, and now is not one of those times.

I guess Wake will see a lineup like this

1. Damon dh

2. Jeter ss

3. Abreu rf

4. Rodriguez 3b

5. Giambi 1b

6. Matsui lf

7. Posada c

8. Cano 2b

9. Cabrera cf

It's hard to tell what the Yankees priority is right now. If Karstens gives up 5 in the first I wouldn't be suprised to see him in there until he's thrown 100+ pitches no matter what.

Thats definitely the best lineup they could put out there now.

I think the entire bullpen will be ready for tonight (thanks DiceK!). Maybe not Timlin but then again..

Today is a must win for the Sox if you ask me. Tomorrow is a gimme game. Keep Snyder and Timlin for tomorrow and blow the rest of the pen tonight if need be.

Get 6 outa Wake today then go Romero/Donnelly/Okajima/Paps

I have a real bad feeling about this game.

Its probably just gas Jacko...

Or just indigestion from thinking about the BP...

fixed it for you

HAHAHA I was trying to go easy on you, didnt want you to have to down a bottle of pepto...LOL

The way I see it, Tim has to go out there and throw his "A" game pure and simple. If he can do that our chances of winning are increased substantially. Let's not knock Karstens either; let's just get him down and beat him. Let the Yankees do the talking. We have our own business to take care of. Dissing another team seldom works. Go out there and play our game and we should win. Do NOT allow the Yankees to get up. You ease on them and they can come back and kill you. Keep the good mojo going today. We can do it.

I don't like Giambi getting his first start at 1B in a game like this. I could only imagine what he looks like when rusty in the field. And imagine if he got hurt...it'd be another knife for Steinbrenner to drive into Torre.
