If this is the '07 Rivera - has to happen sometime, right? - we should start worrying about the O's. Or maybe the D-Rays. Seriously. He's got nothing right now.

I will refrain from gloating so I can quote this post and point out later, when the Red Sox start collapsing, that Yankee fans are douche bags for gloating because I held back.

edit: Is this too pessimistic?

My God, something is burning! Call the police! Call the fire department!

Oh, wait, it's only the Yankee's bullpen.

Mariano can't even get through an inning now. Coco was 0fer something against him until last week, no?

Posted
Hmm. Coco is now 10 for 25 in his last 6 games with 3 stolen bases.

And like 4 bunt base hits, right? I mean, I'm all for mixing 'stats' with 'scouts', and i think it is only fair to do so here as well. He hasn't been stinging the ball all over the park, he's been bunting and hitting bouncing balls through the infield (mixed with a few nice hits).

6 games shouldn't prove anything one way or the other in my opinion.

Sweet s***, the Yankees broadcasters are saying Rivera was pulled because Torre didn't want him to go over 21 pitches, not because he didn't think he could get out of the jam. Give me a break.

I totally agree. This is pretty sad to watch, in the 'this is just bad baseball' sense, not in the 'I feel bad for Rivera' sense.

Yeah, the stands are pretty empty.

Heh, they took out Rivera. B)

I actually meant the occasionally annoying ones who got into an argument with me on Sunday night that when Posada and Matsui were back then this would be a REAL lineup and DiceK would get shelled. They're not here. I actually like Jacksonianmarch, but the argument was heated and seems to have been settled this evening.

I was kinda thinking that....it's hard to gloat because I am always afraid the Sox will suck out at the end...

But on the other hand it's like....OOO feels so good to burn the f***ing Pinholes.

Oh. Well in that case, I still don't know. ;)

If yankee fans had any dignity they wouldn't leave Yankee stadium to the Sox fans to embarassingly chant "let's go Red sox" like the Sox were at home. Perhaps there is an angry group of Sox fans carrying burning torches and a copy of "Dirty Water" up to the PA booth.

See, the thing I don't like, is that you are expecting Pena to improve past anything he has ever shown. He has never shown plate discipline or the ability to hit offspeed pitches. Believing that he can improve to do so doesn't mean its going to happen. He hasn't shown that ability yet, so why would he now? The difference, is that Coco has already proved he can be a good hitter. Not a power hitter, but a good hitter for the top of a lineup once he regains himself, which is looking more and more like that may finally happen. The difference is potential vs. what we have already seen. I agree that WMP has the "potential" to be a great power hitter. But he hasn't shown much indication that he can make the improvements to do so. Coco has already shown us that he can be a good hitter and good CF. I'll agree that Coco isn't gold glove in CF, but he is far batter than WMP in CF and can make great plays.

I have noticed, using the Yankee fans I personally know, that when their team is down, they kinda slide off the radar...like they'll only be dicks about it when their team is winning.

What's the score at this point? I've got 9-4 according to ESPN's gamecast... but then again, according to ESPN's gamecast, Rivera threw 8 balls and 4 strikes to Pedroia who walked in the at bat.
